Hi there, how are you doing?

This is my first topic here, I would like to share a song that come to me in these troubled times. It was created using voice/acoustic guitar, but i did a synth version of it. I plan to remix it with some voice recorded by a friend and other synths (to acomodate his voice properly).

As im still learning how to use compression, eqs, automation etc, this song has none of that, ive only tried to play with volume/balance levels.

Its a composition in Am, going to G, with a little "imitation" in the ending solo. Has a very basic pop structure (Verse/Bridge/Chorus).

The final version will have a better finalization, i hope. Lyrics will be changed a bit too.

Tks for listening and any comments/criticism are welcome, as im very new in digital music production.

Welcome to the forum. I'm relatively new as well. Sounds like you doing well for being new to digital production. Keep it up.

i would totally agree with that. for my personal taste maybe, there are some dominant high frequencies on the right channel, which could be tamed a little.

for that it sounds really good (some say the volume/balance is the most important tool, at least in some articles i read). overall i think it is a really nice piece. maybe you are new to digital production, but you aren't new to music-making? (at least i would guess it...)

Tks for the replies, very kind. Yes, ive been composing, mostly acoustical (quartets, piano, guitar, etc) for 10 years now and never invested much in digital production... until now. Most of my pieces ive done digitally, ive only bothered with levels, volumes, pans, etc... but now ive been listening to lots of works here that sounds pretty great and im learning how to improve a bit for my future pieces. Guess with age ill migrate to digital composition only and its nice to learn about the tools we have at hand, besides composition techniques... and this forum is helping me a lot! Tks again!

You should check out these people https://www.youtube.com/c/inthemix and https://www.youtube.com/user/reidiculousremix. I'm sure there are several other good producer tutorial channels on youtube as well.

The only advice I really have is when you're watching a video on any given subject of mixing, is open whatever DAW you're using, throw in any audio you have available, and pick a the closest plugin you have to what they are using in the video. Then, play with the knobs till it makes sense. And, just realize it's going to take a while to get the technical side, and the ability to hear what is going on.

Three stages of learning—partiality(running to extremes)->fluidity(naturalness)->emptiness(you don't have to think about it anymore, it just does).

i dunno know what you know about compressors or eq. but if you have really no clue what is going on i can recommend two basic arcitles to understand the basic functions:
https://blog.landr.com/eq-basics-everyt ... d-know-eq/
https://blog.landr.com/how-to-use-a-compressor/

but they are really basic.

A pleasant enough tune. Sounds like game music to me, I dont know what you were aiming for.
You've got a very good synth to begin with : Omnisphere!
You had some good reverse type sounds in there.
I'd probably advise you to focus on arrangement. Try dropping out the percussion for a few bars, then brining it back in. Try dropping out the bass for a few bars. Introduce a new instrument (sound) now and then, and take an instrument out now and then. Insert some call-and-response. etc.
It just makes the whole journey more interesting.
