Nice. Liked the intro.
Sounds like to did two separate recordings of the vocals in parts that were similar but different enough to be very noticeable. I know that two separate but similar vocals (doubletracking) is an effective way of thickening.
Nice arps here and there. Some interesting chord progressions.
Overall, like from me

nice one. nice balance of the requencies. what did you use?
the guitar delay (?) on 1:25 (the repeating sound...) sounds for me a bit out of tempo...
distracts me a little bit, but its very personal

Liked a lot too. Im not an expert so cant give technical feedback, only impressions . What ive liked the most was the "urgency" in the verses melody and the "almost pop" vibe of the chorus, very nice. Liked a lot the solo synth too and synth riff that permeate all the song. Is there any lyrics published in the site?(im not a native english speaker so sometimes i have difficulty to get some of the words lol). Great work!
The other songs in the sequence are great too, mixing rock with synths is no easy task, i guess.
Do you have soundcloud too? So i can follow you there.

tomtom1,
Thank you for checking out the song, and replying, I appreciate it! At around 1:25, the guitar there uses a (hardware) Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn amp model, MIDI beat sync delay and tremolo effect; in theory everything should be in sync. That's not saying my guitar playing timing is flawless. Maybe Melodyne timing correction would help there. Used Line 6 PodXT on the distorted guitar. Synth plug-ins: u-he Diva, Arturia Jupiter 8V, Arturia ARP2600V, Arturia CS-80V, Arturia Minimoog-V, uhe ZebraHZ, and Arturia SEM-V. Drums: toontrack Rock Solid EZX and Arturia Spark Vintage Drum Machine.

Wow, believe it or not, the intro to this sounded like a song I did for the OSC here at the forum a while back. Can't recall the name of it.
Anyway, really loved this though I did have to crank up the volume a bit. Seems the level was recorded maybe 2 or 3 db lower than usual. But the volume knob is a wonderful thing.
The vocals on this are so cool as was the synth lead. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you had a boat load of fun doing this one. Amazing what you can do with a couple of chords.
5 out of 5 stars just for the big smile it put on my face alone.
Don't have any new music to listen to but it's all good. I just look forward to hearing your stuff when it comes out.
Keep 'em coming.

sambombe,
No problem.
htcnext2,
Thank you for listening and replying, I appreciate it! I played actual guitar parts. There are some sequencer synths and arp synths where I play one or more notes and it plays a pattern: I often change it a bit from a factory patch so it sounds at least somewhat original. Any lead synth part I play live and later clean up the timing later in Cubase's sequencer, though I've been known to change notes here and there after the fact. The same is probably true for some rhythm synth riffs. Drum stuff is probably mostly factory drum patterns, I don't remember specifically.

Thank you for your answer. very nice synths. my question was perhaps formulated a bit ambiguously: i meant: do you use any balancing plugin when mixing (as an assistant)? everything was really well balanced, low end, mid, highs ... or is that just your experience?aaron aardvark wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 5:10 am tomtom1,

Hi Aaron,
really good listen - enjoyed it!
Are you sure you're NOT Alice Cooper - that vocal is sooooooooo him!
This is a seriously energetic ride driven by those deep synths.
Good chorus lift - very effective!
Synth solos - works, but I wasn't entirely sold on every single note choice + I really wanted it to be double in length.
Production:
Little bit muddy at times with those dominant, deep synths...do some need a little bit of EQ tweaking maybe?

tomtom1,
Not sure what you mean by balancing plugin; something having to do with EQ? I have yet to use any artificial intelligence EQ on my songs. I tried one or two of them (I think Gulfoss was one of them), but did not like it overall for the song(s) I tried it/them on. Have an example plugin like what you are talking about?
ChameleonMusic,
Thank you for listening and commenting, I appreciate it! No, I'm not Alice Cooper, though we have both performed at Gazzarri's in West Hollywood (on different dates). I don't doubt EQ could be better.
