What sort of sounds does Boom and the 500 have? That deal is great, but from waht I can hear they are more dancey/techno oriented, which, while great, isn't really what I'm after. Thanks.

AIR Drumsynth 500 is an interesting toy that I got on sale from Akai for really cheap ($10). The 2 sampler channels pushed me in, because I figured that might be handy to have. Sale is over and is back to $150 now...

The deal is really good, but I'm not sure that kind of sound is waht I'm after. But I might take a punt

If you want a decent sound design engine that is fast, I would safe some money and get UVI Drum Designer or Sonic Charge Microtonic (there are alot of other tools in the Microtonic category people like). Else you can just use a synth like Phaseplant, Serum or what have you to design your own drums. If you want samples, I would buy this https://samplesfrommars.com/products/al ... -from-mars when its on sale (used to be 30$ for all the samples during fall sales).

edit: btw. I'm selling a copy of Polyplex for 30€ in the marketplace, right now, maybe that one strikes your fancy? Could be. It's actually pretty fast and fun and the sounds have a good variety to them: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/p ... /polyplex/

usual sounds. nothing very exciting.

if you want other sounds than the usual supsects take breaktweaker and stix cm. breaktweaker is the more crazy stuff goin on. but generally speaking, why not using some glitchmachines plugins on regular sounding drummachines, if you want to sound more electronica or even experimental?
even tremor is good to go, running a 30min session and rendering out the drumsequence works fine too. so here is my subsumtion:

breaktweaker for the really crazy stuff
stix cm for the very versatility
[tremor for its synthetic drum sound. if you dont bother the 30min no save].
plus take some plugins like arturia minifilter, glitchmachines, izotopes stutter edit and trash, tantra by dimitri sches etc etc to mangle that stuff into smithereens for a few bucks or even free :D and here have it from normal to absoluetly bizarre

I'd be looking for kits more like the Linn. I have the Jinn drum which is very good, but a little weak sounding (probably just needs mixing).

I have another an 808 emulation, which was free and is also pretty good.

I also have the drumkits that come with the M1 vst.

What I'd like is something electronic but not dancey dancey (like the 808, don't really need another). Not really looking for a perfect real drum kit emulation either.

Must be affordable. Around £30 or so (license transfers can be included).

I don't really know drum synths.
ProteusVX is a free general purpose rompler that has many fine drumkits.
The sound collection needs to be loaded from the file menu. Once the plugin is installed and loaded, the soundbank is:

/home/you/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Creative Professional/E-MU Sound Central/Proteus X Composer v2.0.1.exb

Lot's of other good instruments besides the drums in the collection. I think it's about 75 meg in size.
Cheers
