I put two songs in my music website: "Faith Without Works" is the song on top, and "Does That Mean?" is the next song down. Please tell me how you like the music and how it can be improved, and I promise to return the favor. Here is my link:

The first one definitely captures that oldschool surf vibe. I did feel like the drums and beat could've picked up sooner in the song though.

In the second one, you have a good fuzz guitar tone, but I'd double track it personally and the vocals may be a bit too "wet".

Hope some of thoughts help. If you want to check out my latest thing — but it may not be your kind of music.

Ah, my monthly treat.

Faith Without Works - Love the melody on this one. Fun tune. Only crticism (and this is obviously a personal taste thing) is that I can barely hear the drums, which I feel should cut through more on this tune. All the other instruments have the perfect balance. This actually appears to be a common theme for most of your songs. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you're not a drummer. LOL

Does That Mean - See, now this one that kick really cuts through. I can really feel it. Snare's a little weak but the kick is great. Everything else, as usual, is great mix wise. The song is kind of down and dirty rock and works well. Only real complain is it's way too short. Feels almost unfinished. I could have heard at least another minute tacked onto this, possibly with a nice instrumental fade out guitar solo

wagtunes,
Thank you for checking out my songs, I appreciate it! No, I'm not a real drummer. Yeah, I often have trouble with having the drums stand out better without having the drums overwhelm everything else. "Does That Mean" uses non-standard guitar tuning (DGDGBD) which I rarely do (I would have never come up with those riffs otherwise); I didn't know where else to go with it without sounding too repetitive.

nice ones.

i will not say much about the production-qualities (too often I was wrong, but i think the second is a bit dark? and hollow in the middle around the voice? maybe it is the reverb...? can't explain it concretly... maybe others can judge better).

I don't find the drums too quiet in the first one (ok the kick maybe). somehow reminds me of old recordings of e.g. the Beatles.

Btw. i listened to your black and white-song. liked it a lot. do you remember what effect is on your voice there?

tomtom1,
Thank you for listening to my music and commenting, I appreciate it! The Beatles are one of my favorite groups. I recorded my song "Black and White" on a Roland VS-880 hard-disc recorder back in 2005. Using its optional VS8F-1 effects unit, there is a factory preset that I think is called Big Chorus: it is a multi-effect that has some chorus effect, and I forget what else. I still own it, but my VS-880 died years ago and I never got it fixed. The vocals also had VS8F-1 Large Hall reverb. But with the intro vocals I also used Line 6 PodXT Tube Pre-Amp, optical tremolo (Fender emulation), and Line 6 Phase Eko effect.
