I remember some free software but no specific virtual video synths, with oscillators, filters, modulation etc.

Keeps looking better and better — this thing is also a VST (as well as a standalone app)! Looks like this is where I’m headed this winter!!

Cool, that should fit right in — that’s the best thing, everything can be mixed together when trippy is the goal. All of this stuff can be blended along with projectM and possibly AVS if it still works (everything except Lumen, which looks perfect, but yeah… no Mac).vurt wrote: Thu Jul 29, 2021 9:32 pm has acid cam project been mentioned?

Ha! All this finally jogged my memory… Justin Frankel developed WinAmp and Reaper, and so:
That means that the Video Forum equivalent to: “have you tried Reaper?” might just be: “have you tried Reaper?”
Seriously though, glad to see it might still all work, but they don’t seem to mention any way to render a video file to add to a project so it’s still just the same old WinAmp visualization toys (cool as they were) …unless that AVS offline rendering plugin is still available and working
Screen capture would also work, but then you’re stuck with all the hardware limits for resolution and FPS, hassle, not synched to audio tracks, etc.
EDIT: I’m not sure if this is what I’m thinking of, but AVSgrabber and a bunch of other cool additions (including interactive VJ controls) here: http://acko.net/blog/avs/
https://wiki.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/ ... ualizationWinamp contains great visualization plugins such as AVS (Advanced Visualization Studio) and Milkdrop. This preferences page allows users of Winamp to access Winamp visualization modules within REAPER.

I think we're already on that "new-best-thing" train. I'm seeing more and more (on a much smaller scale) pop up in the social feeds, much of it with equipment that I know at some point was being left on the curb for free.Shabdahbriah wrote: Thu Jul 29, 2021 8:19 pm An interesting collaboration here, and being as it is Richard Devine, e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e's interest will doubtless be piqued, and many will be clamoring to mimic it as the 'new-best-thing'. Regardless, it is becoming an approachable 'thing' to do:
Also, Richard Nicol at Pittsburgh Modular has been really getting into his video synthesis lately. Here he is using the atari video music into the circuit bent panasonic fx generator wj-ave3 into the Edirol V-4 with a feedback loop through the circuit bent videonics video editor tu-2000:

it's legit as well, I guess the devs and the LZX guys have collaborated on it to some degree.
It's pretty similar to the Hypno in the way that it works, so that will have to do it for me for
a while. Let us know what you think though...
