First look on the Mimic sampler in Reason 12. I (really!) don't like the color scheme, but otherwise looks pretty great

Wait for it...
Yes, so its a great new free sampler but I don't like their marketing/management/graphics etc etc
Looks great, Reason Companion says launce Reason to use it but it doesn't seem to be there yet? Watched the video, reminds me of Bitwigs sampler (which is a good thing) and I suspect it will get a lot of use by me, I love the way RS are making things that are 'musical' and easy to use...its why I am gradually using RS more and more, it looks and feels like an instrument.
I also think the new Combinator may in the end be the biggest new feature for Reason, if it becomes very flexible and easy to skin it could really open up a user driven flood of new stuff and of course make the 'packs' far more interesting as it will be more like getting new instruments than 'sounds'

Why wait? I already said I don't like the colour scheme. In fact Ryan's face expression on the thumbnail + the brown & yellow(ish) colors of Mimic make for a ...shitty combinationSLiC wrote: Tue Aug 10, 2021 9:24 am Wait for it...

You know what... Every few days I'm thinking that I'll have to buy the upgrade, really REALLY want Algoritm, Friktion and Pattern Mutator (+ I'm still missing few of the older devices, like Scenic) and even considering I'd get some of that on sale, that'd still cost me like 2-3 years of the sub... And that's not even considering all the new stuff that's gonna come out in those 2-3 years, which will be free for R+ whereas I'd "have to" buy it with perpetual license.SLiC wrote: Tue Aug 10, 2021 9:24 amLooks great, R+ says launce reason to use it but it doesn't seem to be there yet? I am sure INTRANCER can fix the colours for you.
You seem to have gone though the same logic as I did when I subscribed...its not a big leap if your used to buying Bitwig Annual Plans! If nothing else it can be a short term 'fix' until there is some no brainer 'Reason 13 suite' or something- its not like you are committed for life, you can cancel any time! If you decide to stay with it you can always sell your licence (or just keep it for 'insurance!) - I seem to remember they did offer 1 year for 40% off at some point (130)- a bit like buying Bitwig Annual Plans in the sale maybe!

For anyone running the beta R+ early access, this is now 'released' as Reason 12.1
To access it delete the beta (come of the beta channel) and download Reason 12.1
I now have Mimic

It's the whole RS ethos I think, may individual instruments accessible, fun and easy to use...but throw in all 'the Rack' with CV, Players and Combiner stuff and it can be as deep as any modular....(or even modular based DAW...)

Yup. Together with Grain they're basically covering all that can be done with samplesMuzikFreq wrote: Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:07 am Well I'll be. This sampler is more than what I wanted to see them do.
