Reason 12 announced

I don't think gpu acceleration is working at all. My laptop can show if using the cpu or gpu for graphics and what programs are using it.
Companion app is but reason itself isn't

The original announcement says September 1st.

I'm using the stable Reason+ channel, so maybe that's different? Well, let's hope they'll polish everything until the release, whenever that is.

Check the info for your embedded GPU. Reason only started using my dedicated GPU once I forced that in Nvidia settings. And it's actually visibly smoother, now.

Nice! How did you force it in your Nvidia settings? I can't find the setting in mine (I've got an Nvidia GPU as well).

- right click on the desktop
- click "Nvidia control panel"
- click the program settings tab (next to global settings)
- see if Reason's on the list, otherwise click "add" and find the .exe file
- in a drop down select "high performance graphic card"
- click Apply in bottom-right
- run Reason again

No beat or pitch detection? No REX import???? No slice to grid? No loop modes??? Finally having quick beat slicing in Reason is nice, but other than that this doesn't offer anything new or exciting, and it feels extremely rushed. I do like how Reason devices have everything on one page though!

Hmmm.. this option doesn't exist in my Nvidia Control Panel. Can you take a screen shot?

I boosted the performance of my ATI graphics card with Reason 12 by right clicking desktop -> display settings -> graphics settings -> browse to Reason.exe and set it to "high performance" .
Reason seems to feel a bit less janky when scrolling and opening windows and stuff.

Thanks. Not sure why I don't see that drop-down option on mine - though I have a GTX 980 Ti on the latest drivers (471.68). What card do you have? Which drivers are you running?

I've GTX1050Ti in my laptop, latest drivers too.

What CPU do you have? If it's not Intel's i5/7 then perhaps it doesn't have embedded GPU, so there would be no need to decide which GPU should be used, as there would be only one?

EDIT: oh, I see in your sig - i7 3770 has an embedded GPU; perhaps you have it disabled in BIOS or something? in that case everything would be running on the Nvidia.

D’oh!!! I’m an idiot. Yeah I have that disabled in my BIOS since I have a proper GPU installed. Haha! Thanks - I’m good now.
