Woot?... Why? :) MX is a mere 2 years old.
Sure, but I bet it'll at least 3 years old when a big update arrives. I wonder, given how competitive this market has become, if wouldn't be smarter to just release it as version 2. Just look at Pigments!
When people come up with ideas such as "they should release a new version number of the synth!" I instantly think they have some sort of financial fetish where their pockets get emptied for a v2 v3 v4 and so on while the updates and maintenance could still be happening on v1 FOR FREE!

I wonder if people think before they suggest such stuff.
Don't talk to me like I'm that naive. I didn't even say they should.
Second, I didn't say current MX owners should be charged for a new version.
Be a little more respectful.

It's fine for me but maybe not for the others.
It may be your host only showing the vst3. Cubase only lists K6 as VST3 since updating. The vst2 files are there too though. I would guess they will eventually stop updating the vst2s. I am getting better performance from the VST3 versions on my workstation.

Have they added VST3 sidechain inputs to any of the plugins yet?

Yes, both Kontakt and Massive X VST2's are still there when I updated to the versions which added the VST3 version.

You're correct. Great, so I can add to the list even more useless crap that residue on HDD for absolutely no reason, next to 32bit and other formats that can't be removed because it will glitch the installer. Way to go NI :)

You might want to try manually deleting the files of the formats you don't want. It works fine on my system. So if you want to only have vst2 delete the .VST3 files then rescan. It's not the "properly supported" way of doing things, but it will work. I like that Bitwig lets me choose which version of the plugin o wanna use. But in many cases I only want one format and (with NI software) deleting the versions I don't use works fine.

And you have no problem to later update those plugins? Because for me, always and forever it has been ending with such a nice, lovely icon which after being clicked, it always ended up with 'can't repair'. The only solution was to uninstall and then install it again. Oh well, sometimes the only option was to install their registry tool and spend some time cleaning registry manually to being able to install a new version (can't say that it's still the case these days).

EDIT: I just did a test. Removing vst2 version ended up with 'repair'. Nothing changed in years in that matter.

Sorry. It seems like it works fine. I haven't done it with the latest versions though. I didn't have any issue updating anything though and I had left everything as vst2 only via just deleting the vst 3 versions.

Your worthless crap might be the only thing (for now) people can load when they use a DAW which can't host VST3's.

I have a number of things which read "Repair" in there which work perfectly. Reaktor 5 got installed even as it was telling me of the impossibility (can't be authorized oc).

Yeah because giving people option during installation to choose which format they want is so year 3000. No one ever did that before.

Dumb question.

After being away from the scene for a decade I bought and installed Kontakt 6 about a week ago, which I am using in Gig Performer (also about a week ago). Would I have an option of using Kontakt 6 as a VST2 or VST3? If so, how would I know?

Thanks...
