Hello everybody,

I'm tryng to recreate this synth sound that happens at the begining of "shine on you crazy diamond" (please download attached zip).
Shine On_sample.zip
I'm using freware software, I've tryed with ODIN 2 and Sytnth 1, both in bespoke, but my results are comical.

Can sombody point me in the rigth direction? what kind of synth should I use?

Thanks

It's not a typical synth sound.
It's most likely a vocal sample that's pitched down and then up

Sampling as we know it now did not exist yet then.
Unzipping does not work well on my phone.

There was a tape processed scream, repeating a couple of times, is that the sound?

Ask this guy. He's got the Sound FX you're after, almost perfect.

Same here.

It's a bit strange to me, not use a YouTube video to ask for the sound....

Hi, I know it is suspitious but uploading wave or mp3 it is not allowed by the system. I'didn't use a youtube video because I excluded one of the channels and converted to modo to make the sound more intellegible.

Thanks for pointing it out, I think it is sampled from the record

Maybe there's clues in the earlier project Household Objects that the wine glass harp came from

Yes, I've been listening to "the hard way" and there is a sound that reminds me of the one I'm trying to recreate. Maybe it's true that it's not made by synthesis but rather toying with something like an analog delay in lack of proper sampling due to the era.
