hey guys i really read good things about them but somehow all is highly rated lol!
for mastering use i just demo'ed masterdesk a bit and dunno but i dont find anything special about it when using Fabfilter Comp, EQ3 already and Soothe + 1-2 master comps. what do you say?
and which i was more excited about it HG-2 but somehow i dunno if it really gives some enhancements which i dont cover already with TUBE SATURATOR 2 + VSM-3 ?
any opinions appreciated what i should try maybe or give those 2 a pass.

I agree with your about Masterdesk - I bought it on sale awhile back. I dont use it for mastering, I use it for track vibe. I prefer to impart less distortion on my mastering than more and so I avoid saturation except subtle tape and maybe a sweet AA preamp from time to time. Perhaps try Masterdesk as a track mojo tool.
HG-2... its just another "flavour" of distortion. Again, I don't put a lot of distortion on my tracks and masters because I prefer the "deeper blacks" contrast without all those harmonics bubbling around above the noise floor. But, again, HG is an interesting option for track vibe.
Perhaps looka at them for more overt distortion applications vs saturation and see what you think. But as always, Follow Your Ears.

MasterDesk is hot garbage.
HG-2 is good, but it's nothing groundbreaking about it. There's plenty of either free or more flexible saturation plugins out there. (i.e. Tone Projects Kelvin for flexible, Voxengo Tube Amp for free)

I agree with you about Masterdesk. I would haev no use for it as I have good compressors and eqs already.plexuss wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 3:17 pm I agree with your about Masterdesk - I bought it on sale awhile back. HG2 though is a really nice saturator. It makes most things sounds a bit better. I do use this on the masterbus, but really not very much of it. I think this subtle use on buses is where it shines over others saturators. I do agree on individual tracks it can also be a good flavour distortion when pushed.
