It seems all good to make a mastered reference bright and crisp, clean and compressed; but with if that is counter-intuitive. What if this serves against you and you will be merely picking up essing and treble of dialogue or singing in general with your reverb instead?
This is not constructive and obviously you'd be best to consider making your track in such a way that allows you to add reverb and treble, where the treble is deriven from a send track that will not affect the reverb.
I go over, in a fairly straight forward way, how to compress and get the levels to a predictable, professional level. I will explain however, that this tutorial is not necessarily applicable to those using damaged vocals, but a vocal that's fairly good instead.
I will say though, with all of these things in mind, that you should be really careful about how much de-essing you apply to create your "reverb reference" as you may find it very add to re-add the essing. I've found a practical way to achieve this is with the c6 by waves. I use the two additional peaking bands and I turn the others off. I compress after 7 k and I expand before, which seems to make words form in an intelligible way.

Here's part 2 - that shows a more refined vocal, stemming from the original reference made with the above method. I employed the son eq, the boardstation and the rescue mk2 in a way I explain in this video.

Sorry to say that, but in our FB group "mastering vocal" has been a meme and a running joke for years.
Did you mean "mixing vocal" maybe?

Actually I meant to make a mastered reference that you can apply various effects to, like a stem. It's not particularly high in register. But yes; it could be called mixing.
Could be called a few things. I guess I'va reffered to it as that for so long that it is hard to kick the habit.
