In this video I show how I did upgrade my cheap guitar tube amplifier (Fender 5F1 Champ clone), the one I use at home for my occasional guitar playing and to test my guitar pedals that I build by hand. I upgraded the speaker, the tubes and the enclosure. Overall, this is a simple operation.
I have a bunch of tube gear so I have a lot of tubes around. I only use vintage tubes, not the modern crap they manufacture today. I used initially american vintage tubes and even tried a 5Y3GT on the rectifier but ended using a set comprising of a Mullard GZ34, a Tung-Sol 6V6GT and a Tungsram ECC83. The sound is amazing!
This upgrade is strongly recommended!
Please be careful when working on tube equipment - it operates at high voltages and it can be deadly!

Cool.
Those amps were an absolute bargain, they seem to be no longer available. Fame/Joyo
