I start to play electric guitar after decade 'retirement' of it and have serious problem finding my favorite fx in a chain.
My style is wast spectrum of everything from pop to heavy metal - everything you can play with electric guitar and fx.
Right now i use fuzz-wah-amp-cab,just wonder what fx could be placed somewhere in between to make output sound more original or distinguish?

I have been experimenting recently with

I usually start with Ohmforce Predatohm, various Audio Damage Compression/Modulation/Reverb stuff (especially Ronin which is unfortunately no longer available) and Fabfilter Simplon when I want to wander off the standard guitar path.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

Have a look at Pawn Shop compressor
https://korneffaudio.com/plugins/
It has saturation and some other stuff besides the compressor.
Also check the AIP and the revedrb...

Atlantis Filter is one of my favorite things for making guitars sound different.

Put a reverse reverb (just reverse a convolution impulse) before the amp. Instant weird-y psychedelic backwards style effects.
Filter plug-ins aren't just for sinthesisers. If you use something that nicely self-oscillates you can create all kinds of overtones/feedback style effects and use automation of the cutoff to generate harmonies from nothing.

Buffer effects, glitchy things, ahead of all other character processing can really expand the sonic palette.

if you have something that uses impulse responses...donkey tugger wrote: ↑Fri Oct 29, 2021 7:39 pm Put a reverse reverb (just reverse a convolution impulse) before the amp. Instant weird-y psychedelic backwards style effects.

and finally for now off the top of my head...
vocoders, make your guitar talk like a robot!
if you have one that allows, live input, for both carrier and modulator, try it both ways.

Thanks fro reply
Probably have to try some filter modulations, typical guitar fx miss dynamic and originality i am after, lately experiment mostly with double phaser and wah,but filters are my big love so maybe have to use them somewhere in the chain.
Cheers

I would highly recommend checking out these freebies from Baby Audio! Especially the Magic Switch, Magic Dice and Baby Comeback. With Magic Dice, you get randomised combinations of effects, which can lead to some inspiring ideas while jamming/recording.
