If the theory of most effects is similar, then how come there are so many incarnations of it (i.e. different plug-ins)?

I heard it costs 600 €, and noone is able to afford it.

On the topic: There are lots guitars. In theory, they should all sound and handle the same. After all, they're all basically the same construction.

How different is cow milk from dairy farm to dairy farm? Do some things have more to do with location & transport to retailers thus making it an extremely false equivalency?

Maybe if you get the same person who always makes everything sound the same.

Actually, there was a guy here once who posted his music on the Music Café forum. He bought and used (and sold, and re-bought) a gazillion of synths. And made them all sound the same, with always the same sounds. He was really good at that.

He actually was pretty good at what he was doing. His stuff sounded quite professional. It just sounded all the same.

It’s only available to members of the Politburo, but I have a contact in the nomenklatura who was able to get me a copy. It only has one button, which doesn’t seem to do anything.

You need this dongle/controller to operate it:

I’m told it’s modeled on this rare piece of analog gear:

Wow damn it would be deadly boring if we were living in the OP's world!

One type of house, since a house is a house after all.
One type of car, since a car is a car no need more.
One dish. Hey, it's just food why more flavors? Food is food.
One type of music. Why care, music is music.

No, OP specifically addresses bread in his first post.
A lot of houses are nearly identical anyway so it wouldn’t matter if they were based off the same design - and some even are.

A lot of cars are based on identical platforms and are essentially very similar.

A lot of music is cookie cutter and sounds nearly identical. There’s a lot of redundant bands that are just clones of good bands and it literally wouldn’t matter if they stop existing.

Also there’s a lot of nearly identical food products because people copy other companies successes - also redundant.

So OP absolutely has a point there.

No, he only addresses two specific aspects of bread, and relatively simple ones at that (texture and flavour).

There's a considerable of other things he overlooks from what seems to be his basic perspective that novelty is the only important factor.

So OP absolutely has a point there.
If that point is as reductionist as 'mass-market products are very rarely unique and novel' then yeah.

But he seemed not to be getting the why of that, rather than making it a point.

There are plenty of reasons it could matter.
