Generally speaking, use Loop mode for gated/rhythmic sounds that are not tied to Note On's, but to the host tempo/ppq.

If you have an arpeggiator enabled in your patch and want to prevent MSEGs from constantly retriggering all the time, use "Key On" mode instead of the default "Note On".

The LFOs are free running if not synced? Click poly for more free running between notes.

Richard,

Thank you for making these Universal Binaries on Apple Silicon machines. I see you did the same for The Legend and Obsession. This makes things much easier for those of us who use multiple DAWs.

i want this modulated

i dont have an arpeggiator on but short played notes but i want that the modulation wont get retriggered for every note but maybe say synced to 2 bars for example.
this is my setting so far but i dont care if it is mseg or LFO :) i just want it not to get retriggered, any ideas?

So use the LFO with poly and NOT sync.

Looking forward to seeing The Legend and Obsession with new browsers. I know that developing a browser is no small undertaking and I'm glad to see that work now complete. Thanks Richard!

thx a lot but it doesnt go the full way, if i drag the know of PW manually from 0 to 100 i can hear the change heavily, if i have it on 0 and modulate it with LFO1 Poly ON and Sync OFF Amount 100 and in the mod Matrix Amount 100 i hear not the full range :/

Yes you are right, it's not modulating the full range. That's strange. I can't see a solution, apart from a second modulation that moves the PW along too. Maybe the filter env.?

Post

btw, I just noticed. The mseg in LOOP mode acts like Legato mode. It doesn't re-trigger with legato playing if that might help? Otherwise, I think it's some limitation of dune. A free running mode in the envelopes would be a great solution.

That's because the LFO is Bipolar. Set the PW knob to 75% and you'll hear the full range.

Strange, I thought I tried that and it wasn't going the full range, but I think it is, actually. :tu:

If you look at the parameter readout it starts at 50% and goes to 100%. 75% is the mid point.

Yeah good point, that would create a sort of random modulation which is probably what he is looking for. Which reminds me, there is also the "Random" source in the Mod Matrix, a nice way to introduce randomness on each key press.

We like the new Silicon machines :) We would have released the native VST3s earlier but there was little/nothing to test them with. Now there's Bitwig and it appears to be working very well on M1, as far as we can tell.

Great work on the new update! The new preset browser is very respectable. The author system is a bit clunky…would be nice to be able to just edit all those in the UI (the same way you can edit the description of a preset by clicking it). Category could be a dropdown instead of requiring you to manually move files into folders (i.e. even if they are still determined by folders, it could move the files for you and create folders if needed).

One issue I noticed is the browser does not honor the macOS "natural" scroll direction setting. There's a simple API call to determine the user's setting for this (but "natural" has been the default since 2010, so for most Mac users the browser scrolls in the wrong direction).

I really like the new Genetics feature. I tried it a bunch of times and got a lot of good results.
