Just saw the new Nasca Soundscape Synthesizer on KVR (https://www.kvraudio.com/product/nasca- ... tive-tools ) which looks incredibly awesome.

...but then I see it's standalone only. Same with all the other products from this developer. :(

Awhile back I looked into using Nodal (https://www.kvraudio.com/product/nodal- ... university ) which is also standalone only. :ud:

Someone wanna tell these guys its not 1998 anymore and most people want to make music in a DAW...

Are there any other generative software that IS available in vst format?

HY-Plugins has some interesting sequencers. Like HY-RPE2 and HY-SeqCollection2 (the free version with "Hexa" is pretty interesting for generative music I think). These plugins may look more conventional on the surface, certainly not as wild as the examples you posted, but you can modulate almost everything with LFOs.

Also, have you looked at SugarBytes? I haven't tried their products, but among others, the Orbiter in Aparillo looks interesting.

And with the release of VCV Rack 2, there is a paid VST version which will let you use a wide variety of modules in your DAW, e.g. those by Sha#Bang!

Also, you could always get a virtual midi cable and route the midi from a standalone application into your DAW.

It seems to be the way of these things, don't know why.

Another Sugar Bytes VST to look at would be Obscurium.

Pastoral, Kosmiche, Ambient Music https://markgriffiths.bandcamp.com/
Experimental Music https://markdaltongriffiths.bandcamp.com/

I'll check out the HY and SugarBytes plugins, although those are a bit less exciting :/

Also, I don't think a virtual midi cable would work because Nasca generates audio inside the application. Even if I did find some way to route the midi/audio into my DAW, I wouldn't be able to save those settings in my projects and it would end up one confusing mess.

Give Transition a try; it's pure generative mayhem, and it's free:

What DAW do you use?

VCV Rack 2 is just released and I am sure you could do lots of generative stuff with it. It functions as a VST.

Then there is Reason which can be a plugin as well.

I use Bitwig as my DAW and it has endless generative possibilities built right in with the Grid and all the Note FX devices.

indeed soft modulars like VCV Rack 2 Pro, or Voltage Modular or Reaktor, are of course thé generative instruments. as Reason, but, well enough RE's, but for full fledged generative seqeuncing, a soft modular plugin.

and having bitwig helps also, but Modulat for Ableton will also work, with K-Devices Modular 21, etc.
but bitwig has a lot built-in.

so enough solution in any price range, and ecosystem.

Reaktor has hundreds of generative experimental ensembles in the user library.

I use FL Studio, but I have the Reason Rack plugin, so I'll see what kind of instruments are available for that as well as for Kontakt/Reaktor as others have suggested.

I know the modular style plugins can be very powerful and useful, but they just aren't for me. Just looking at that thing with those dozens of cables going everywhere makes my head hurt. Glad for whoever likes them though.

Nodal 2.0 costs $60, which would be well worth it for a VST.

The 2GMT instruments are free, but I would happily pay a decent amount for VST versions of those also.
