for me it was more something about when I tried to "jazz up" the nut roast when he came over last time to play dominoes. I really don't want to talk about it.cryophonik wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 7:25 pmHe's been calling me every day bugging me to play an erhu on his next song. I'll tell him to call you back. Oh, and do you happen to play the erhu???,..... because I don't, and I probably shouldn't have told him that I do.ChamomileShark wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 6:46 pm You need permission from Peter Gabriel to visit and he's not answering my calls at the moment.

I'm thinking it might be worth a punt even un demo'd for that price.

Can anyone compare this to the Logic stock "vintage vca" (hopefully I'm remembering which one is the SSL) mode? What with u-he coming out of the woodwork with their sale, and me wanting bx_townhouse, I really need this like another hole in my head. I'm into 2021 Black Friday budget now...But if it's head and shoulders above...
Also interested in how it stacks with Native Instrument's Dynamics. Ah heck I'm talking myself out of it now I'm just a sucker for a big discount (from companies that don't always do it).

200$ original price, yikes. Is it worth that much though?

my feeling is that it was in line with many of the early plugins from high profile brands, the original Eventide stuff was very expensive. But the market has changed somewhat in the last 10 or so years.Halonmusic wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:51 pm 200$ original price, yikes. Is it worth that much though?

Only one activation. Non-resizable GUI. It looks ok on my 27" 1K display. I think it would be pretty small on 4K. Just guessing though.

Peter Gabriel doesn't own SSL any more. They got bought by the company that makes Allen and Heath consoles.ChamomileShark wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 6:46 pmActually they aren't. They are out in the sticks at Begbroke. You need permission from Peter Gabriel to visit and he's not answering my calls at the moment. Similarly Sonnox aren't in Oxford either, they are also out in the sticks.telecharge wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 6:24 pm They're in your hometown. Why not walk over and check it out?
You have to be a 3rd order don wizard to be in Oxford.
I'd heard the examples - none are really applicable to my kind of music I think. It looks like the demo is everything I think, something I'm never very keen on. And yes it asks for an ilok ID, don't know if that means you can have the soft version. I have the dongle so it isn't a barrier for me.

Yeah, I got it for 15 euros and got Audiothings Valves for free. Not a bad deal. Simply put, X-comp is amazing with lots of options.
Cheers

Thanks for this. I had used this site in the past, but had kind of forgotten about it for whatever reason. I had $4.44 in 'DeluxeBucks' that I didn't even remember having (my last order was in 2018), so that encouraged me to go for it. Hard to argue $14.54 overall incl. the AudioThing bonus too.

So is Xcomp like the bus compressor from SSL ? I see a lot of people talking more about mastering with this thing ?
