Are you gonna share them or sell them?shaftenberg wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 12:47 am I know this is an old thread, but I desperately searched for a good Alesis Nanoverb (v1) replacement. I loved the "Chorus Room 1" and "Nonlinear" preset and every Reverb I tried, nothing came close. So thanks to this thread and with a bit of research I made a few Impulse Responses from the original hardware unit.
To my ears they are indistinguishable when I load the IR's to Reaverb (Reaper). Maybe in theory this should not work as devkerr explained, but in practice I am very happy with the results.
Is there a really good Alesis Midiverb 2 emulation as a plugin?

I doubt the context here is the 80s - but more the 90s and the explosion of diY electronic music - where no one really had lexicon.planetearth wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 1:19 am
On the one hand, the MIDIVerb II was never "that iconic sound of the 1980's"--if any reverb was, it was arguably the Lexicon 224 or 480L. (Although an argument could be made that the MIDIVerb II was "that iconic [reverb] sound of garage bands in the 1980s".)

The new Korneff reverb has Midiverb II, but only the reverb presets.

Fair enough. But I was quoting what the developer of It Might Get Loud 1989 said about the product: that it was "that iconic sound of the 1980s". Considering it came out near the end of the decade, I'd agree that it was more the sound of the "'90s DIY electronic music"._leras wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 5:27 pmI doubt the context here is the 80s - but more the 90s and the explosion of diY electronic music - where no one really had lexicon.planetearth wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 1:19 am

I'm sure you could squeeze all those sounds out of Melda MXXX. I know there are IRs around for many of those reverbs and there is an algorithmic plugin that does the MV1 I think.

No algorithmic reverb captures the midiverb uberverb is the only one existent.

Perhaps not the ideal material for demonstrating these reverbs.

Chris obviously knows his stuff, and he's clearly very passionate about making the plug-ins (and he makes some very interesting ones, too). But his explanation doesn't sound much like the ones posted by Valhalla DPS's Sean and a couple of other people on Gearspace, who were trying to explain the MIDIVerb II a couple of years ago. (Sean even has some interesting info here: https://valhalladsp.com/2010/12/02/valh ... icks-bloom.)pajzd wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 8:33 am com'on guys & gurlz !

Chris's "MV" seems to rely more upon bit shifting in an attempt to make an "infinite" reverb. He also doesn't claim he's trying to emulate the original MIDIVerb. And from what I've read, the original MIDIVerb did not necessarily have the same algorithms as the MIDIVerb II, which has that cool "bloom" (but not infinite) reverb.
From the second video comparing them, it sounds like Chris's "MV" can make a decent bloom reverb. And while IRs don't necessarily do a great job of capturing evolving or bloom-type reverbs, there's a free set of IRs floating around of the MIDIVerb II's reverbs, and they're very close to the MIDIVerb II I still have. Since the MIDIVerb II doesn't have any modulation in the delays, an IR can get fairly close.
Regardless of how someone wants to emulate the MIDIVerb II, I think it's cool that people are still trying to get certain sounds from a box that's 35 years old and was built to be as economical as possible, while still providing semi-pro (and hobby) musicians something decent.
