The trick might not work in all cases for all ensembles (it's also a relatively new trick AFAIK). Needs to be attempted on a case by case basis. Like, you can't have this on Monark because it's monophonic already.

This reminds me of NI's inexplicable unwillingness to let people make Komplete Kontrol's UI bigger so you can see more than 2 results. A hack was posted years ago, just a change in a text file. It works perfectly. But to this day NI haven't implemented it as a simple preference.
Is this still working/can it still be used with the newest version of Komplete?

It can still be used.

But there is a strange pattern of behaviour that they seem to deliberately not do the obvious things, which often cripple otherwise great software. They had a perfectly good tag browser in Kore 15 years ago, and yet Super 8 and Massive X still don't have them today. As Vincini says - "inconceivable"!
Agree. They (NI) make some VERY strange design choices, too. I know this is a Super 8 thread, but: we could spend weeks talking about all of the weird decisions they made with Massive X. I was just ranting about this in an email with the other half of The Hive Project! His words, not mine: "something of a devil to operate. I think the interface is dreadful. Looks cool (in white), but so un-intuitive. No clear flow, and too many abbreviated labels. No clear interface structure. Stupid."

But, yeah, not applying simple user-supplied fixes to things is ... a rather strange PR omission.

Germans are weird. ;) (But I still love them. ...I suspect I'd be happier in Germany than here in the US. Heh.)

I'll just throw in a vote in the "Super 8 is awesome" camp, though. Despite the strange choices (like the lack of clarity of the mod matrix, argh), it is a synth I really love. It really hits a nostalgic sweet-spot for me in a way similar to the Super-8.

...I wish I had reason to use it more often, but, alas: as much as I love Super 8, I would rather use the System-8 or Diva. Just another case of "great, but not the greatest," and it's hard to justify three Roland-style polysynths in one's setup.

(Okay, four. I love Softube's Model 84, too. [sigh] I have a problem.)

Post

Super 8 is not full-on Roland style, tho. It goes to many other areas vintage Rolands simply cannot touch.

What I really like about it is that virtually every parameter can be modulated.

Apart from the freakin' awesome sound of course. Surely one of the top 5 best sounding soft synths I ever heard. Big sweet spot.

By the way, that bug mentioned earlier with the semi tone parameter on the oscillators is a really odd one. It's pretty unpredictable. When you transpose down, it sometimes happens on every second semitone, and sometimes it even skips 2 semitones, or, at some settings, none at all. I just reported it to NI support, and, I hope they can fix that one.

Not fair. I wasn't saying it WAS a vintage Roland, I was saying it was inspired by. I was comparing it to the System-8 and Diva. ...both of which can absolutely "touch those areas."

...errr...

I mean...

(Show me on the doll where the System-8 touched you.)

It couldn't because it has no aftertouch. :x

Any idea if we will see a resizable GUI for Super 8 in near future?

Or some further CPU optimization.

Post

I don't think there could be any further CPU optimizations, considering in the back end it's still Reaktor. It's already as optimized as far as Reaktor allows.

Now that's perverted, and not an excuse.
