If you had to stick to one DAW, which one would it be?

I chose Acid Pro figuring that I'd be the only one, I guess that I ruined someone else's attempt to do the same thing. Of course I lied, which is the only ethical thing to do on polls that you're not getting paid to take.

Well, not EVERYTHING is a DAW...Many use sequencers, Trackers or the like...I dig up alot of them to mess with others would not even think of...I suppose my pick would be Arguru's Aodix 4.2 as it is combo piano roll & tracker...
Not really a valid kind of thread because OLDER versions of some DAWs-Sequencers are BETTER than newer ones...Like Reason...Reason 2.5 & 3 were quite awesome with version 4 & 5 going downhill & nothing but garbage after that...
Same with Renoise with 1.9-2.5 being quite optimal while current versions junk...

Upgraded to Cubase 12 and have deleted Studio One 5, so I'm on one DAW now that I can run it on Desktop and Laptop without dongle swapping.
I'm loving it.
I still keep Maschine 2 and MPC 2 (on laptop, have an MPC Studio MK2) installed, but those are basically sequencers that I use for drum patterns only.

I would add another +1 to Cubase https://www.kvraudio.com/product/hy-fil ... hy-plugins just wow
FX Modulator ... Steinberg Steinberg just watch
incredible a plugin and makes the DAW choosing a bit easier

I’ve purchased a tonne and only really vibed with Ableton and Reason. I think, for me, Reason’s visual rack has been phenomenal for me and inspirational in some of the generative tools it comes with.
I had a go at Bitwig but am gonna move on from using it as it just felt a little undercooked and I had issues with plugins bricking the hell out of it (more my own equipment than anything!)

I thought Acid Pro was just there to keep live and bitwig separated so they didn't fightghettosynth wrote: Sat Apr 09, 2022 4:34 pm I chose Acid Pro figuring that I'd be the only one, I guess that I ruined someone else's attempt to do the same thing. Having gone the opposite way, I'd be interested to know why you chose Cubase over S1. I just find S1 so much easier to work with. Things are in places that make more sense to me and it feels like everything flows better for me in S1 than it ever did in Cubase.Trensharo wrote: Sat Apr 16, 2022 2:08 pmUpgraded to Cubase 12 and have deleted Studio One 5, so I'm on one DAW now that I can run it on Desktop and Laptop without dongle swapping.

Because it's missing some fairly basic features and I'm not here to wait and beg for that stuff. MIDI List Editor, Video Track, MusicXML Import, etc.BONES wrote: Wed Apr 20, 2022 4:45 amHaving gone the opposite way, I'd be interested to know why you chose Cubase over S1. Also, some elements of the UI lack polish. The non-uniform plug-in thumbnails are triggering, and remind me of an old Android phone where different icons had different sizes and shapes. The browser is trash. Some of the UI elements are miniscule on my 14" Laptop. It's just less ergonomic to use than Cubase. Cubase has a more customizable UI, as well, which is an advantage on my desktop workstation.
All the "makes sense to me," "flows better" stuff is uninformative (and sounds like a REAPER Community Marketing Campaign, to me).
I didn't think "MIDI List Editor" would have been something I'd have to confirm exists in a DAW in 2021, but I found out the hard way.
I deleted the PreSonus Account after I got Cubase 12. I really have no further interest in it and wouldn't bother upgrading even if they added the features. Cubase for life. I've grown out of caring about other DAWs, at this point.
Time is finite, and extremely expensive.

OTOH, I don't even know why anyone in 2022 would want to use a MIDI list editor. That's one of those things that stopped me using a computer for music 20 years ago. It made music production feel like working in a spreadsheet, not a studio.
I remember when I first got Cubase a couple of years ago, I went through and made thumbnails for everything and then realised what a complete and utter PITA they are and deleted them all, then switched the feature off. I need that list to be as compact as possible so I don't spend half an evening scrolling to find stuff. It's one of those features that feels really cool when you see it but is a workflow killer when you actually try to use it. I don't like those stupid little icons in Cubase, either. WTF are they meant to be for?
What's wrong with the browser? I like it and use it a lot more than I ever used the one in Cubase. I've not noticed anything being smaller on my 14" laptop screen than Cubase was. I'd say they are pretty much on par, except S1 is less ugly. I also find it a LOT MORE ergonomic than Cubase and whilst it may be less customisable than Cubase, I'd suggest that's because it' smuch better set up in the first place. e.g. What a f**k-around it is trying to work out how to do simple things in Cubase, like return the play head to the start of the song, because the highly customisable transport controls don't bother showing that button by default. Shit like that meant that it only took me a few weeks to get to a point where I was more productive in S1 than I was in Cubase after a year. Now that I've had a year in Studio One, going back to Cubase feels like a step back in time to the Noughties.
It sounds to me like you're just more used to Cubase, whereas I only had a year invested in it, so finding something that instantly felt easier to work with and had every feature I could possibly want was a no-brainer.

However, for other people things can turn out to be very different. In my case, for example, I went from the old Sonar DAW to Cubase, and it was a complete relief to have something that was far more fitting for my personal use. I tried S1 a few times, but it just not "fitted" me like Cubase did. Nothing wrong with S1, but it was missing some things (the Control Room for example) that I use on the "automatic pilot" in Cubase. Sure - I could adapt to S1 if I dropped some convienent stuff that I am used to, but why would I? At the end of the line it's about what feels most comfortable to you.
Another example: In the "old" day's I used Cakewalk's Project 5 a LOT. After discontinuing that DAW (I still think that's one of the most stupid mistakes Cakewalk made and contributed to their downfall), I switched to Ableton Live. Even after years of using that program I still had no comfortable feeling with it. I tried Bitwig a while ago, and it was an instant match with me. Probably because it had the same "spirit" as that old Project 5. So - I ditched Ableton Live a while ago and used the money to buy the full version of Bitwig.
Long Story Short - If something fits your way of doing things and your personality, you feel comfortable with it. Even if other programs look better and (on paper) should work better, they can still work as a ball and chain if they do not fit in your comfort zone. Personally I think there are no really bad of really good DAW's, but only DAW's that fit or do not fit (in the ways described above). For me the programs that fit nearly perfect are Cubase and Bitwig. For someone else it will be an entirely different story.

there is no polling with Push + which DAW, but I would say worth to check https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 9HngDDKF3s what Moss did with it, just because I'm playing with the chord mode for one hour now
4.4.2 Chords Mode
Press “Note” and select Chords to change to the Chords view.
This mode allows to play a chord by pressing a single pad. The base note is taken from the current scale and
increases from left to right. The same octave, scale and base note settings apply as with the play mode. The
rows from bottom to top contain the following chords:
• Triads,
• Dyads (Powerchords),
• Suspended second (Sus2),
• Suspended fourth (Sus4),
• Add sixth (6),
• Major seventh chord (maj7),
• Add ninth (9),
• Add eleventh (11).
Other functions are identical to the Play view.
