This is my entry for OSC 158.
Using Reaper 6.5x
20 instances
OTT x 8
Protoverb x13
Spaceship delay x 3
Valhalla SuperMassive x 1
This is a comically sparse number of effects for me. Normally I would at least use ReaEQ and SPAN on just about every instance but I was just loving the way this sounded as is. Anyway I wanted a big full sound.
..no side chaining, barely any compression. 13.3 LUFS.

Composed with 8 instances of Surrealistic MG1 plus in VCV Rack 2 using the Host module. No other DAW was used.

The only non-VCV effects used were the Kotelnikov compressor and Loudmax limiter, both on the Master buss, using the HostFX module.

CHOW Tape Model

Just for clarity, I think everything in CHOW Tape Model is permitted except for the wow/flutter, which fall under the prohibition against pitch shifting effects.

Yup as @fip says, don't use the pitch modulations, just any dynamics/saturations. Same goes for any tape modelling vst's. You need to be careful with saturation as well as going full 11 can really alter the sound. Just bear in mind that ANY FX used should not alter the basic sound from the synth in such a way that it is "unrecognisable". The easy case to avoid is high levels of external distortion or bit crushing.

Using FX to completely re-model the synth output sort of defeats the object of the One Synth Challenge!

Great. Just checking because many (even seasoned campaigners!) can get it wrong when using a FX which has some modulation facilities.

Sadly I was just a wee bit too old for the rave scene! My mass music scenes were Isle of Wight and Reading festivals back in the late 60's! First started listening to music on 7" records in the mid 1950's, and working with bands in the mid 1960's until the mid 1980's.
