But, good questions for those who might wish for their OSC tracks to raise a few pennies.

Ha-ha, I make about $12 a year on my collected works on Spotify, et al. (probably somewhere between 100-150 tracks). The plan is to try and double that (i.e. the track count) over the next few years, and hopefully I'll break even by 2025!

But the only marketing my music has ever seen comes from the exposure of my OSC "hits".

I am on the one synth challenge voting page right now, was taking a look to be ready to go on the first, and also I wanted to see what songs have won in past months. I guess I can't see that on that page though? Where can I find a record of who actually won and how many votes there were for tracks and stuff? I looked at the thread for last month's OSC and it didn't seem to be there.

The OSC site at https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/home has a page for each round. The results have not yet been added for last month, but preceding months have a link to the scoresheet with the detailed voting record for that round. Older rounds (136 and earlier) have a playlist with the entries in order by score, but this hasn't been kept up for a while.

The results for last month are in last month's discussion thread, you just have to dig for it: viewtopic.php?p=8408113#p8408113

I am NOT entering any of my songs linked in this thread into One Synth Challenge #158, because I do not want my song/s released under the CC License terms.
Apologies for wasting anyone's time.
Best of luck to all of you who have entered.
I will stay on kvr forums and seek advice in other places on these forums.
I really enjoyed making my songs and a competition environment really helped with my motivation to continue them. Its a shame as Id love to make songs for further competitions but now cannot.
Hey The Sound Of Merlin - Youd have got my vote for your latest posted song, that eerie melody is right up my street, love it!

Hey hope4ever, thanks for the little note and the compliments. It would be nicer if you would stay. Dunno what problems you have with CC license terms but please don't forget that music, passion and the sheer happiness one can get from sharing this all with people like us over here can make your life more wonderful than it is already. Licenses and contracts are nothing more than abstract symbols on a piece of paper. They don't sound, smell nor taste. There are no forums with happy people sharing their contracts and licenses with each other. But anyway, even if you don't post your music, you can hang around and have some fun. (And give me your vote....hehehe)

Hello everyone!

This is my entry for the challenge and my first post here in the forum.
I used NO FX, really, no EQing, no reverb, just leveling and panning. I like the rough style and it was very challenging and interesting to use no other plugins, just the MG-1 Plus. I was surprised how good this synth is usable for Acid, nice liquid sounding. I learned a lot.

Details:
made in Cubase 10.5
no FX, no EQing, just the pure, direct synth!

channels:
1 Acid Bassline
2 additional Bassline
3 Kickdrum
4 Snare
5 second Snare layer
6 open Hihats panned left
7 open Hihats panned right
8 closed HiHats panned left
9 closed HiHats panned right
10 FX sound 01
11 FX sound 02

Seems I got some discussion going. I have not and don't have enough time at the moment to fully catch up on the discussion. You can see now why I was not sure exactly what licence I needed to be using for the post on Soundcloud as now I understand that all entries are archived on archive.org and so to exist here they need to be licenced under a CC licence. As for SoundCloud, it has been suggested now that It can be under whatever you want to release it under and I think it is possible to even change that as you want. I have at the moment still have my entry under the CC licence but I have also been able to set it to be monetised which still makes total sense. Just because a work is released under a CC licence does not mean the creator of the work does not have the right to earn money from said work it just in this case limits anyone else who obtains the work from SoundCloud for making any money from it. I believe also anyone who obtains the work under the CC licence will retain that licence but I think it is possible to change the licence on the work but and any accessing of the work after the change will be subject to the new licence and not the old.

I do once the competition is over distribute my entry to music platforms in the hope that it will make some money but also be heard by many more than those who know of this competition and those who stumble on it on my SoundCloud. I think it is for sure one of my best tracks so far so would feel it would be a shame to not be heard.
There is a chance if possible that I may also get the track YouTube whitelisted too.

Hello, this is my One Synth Challenge #158 submission:

https://soundcloud.com/mijomusic/mijomu ... al_sharing

This track uses 11 Surrealistic MG-1 instances inside of Cubase Artist 11. No effects, just pure synth, no panning. Half of the sounds are original presets, yet I did do some tweaking here and there. I only used one free plugin for the master output by LoudMax.
The melody is inspired by Ravel's Bolero, yet uses a 4/4 signature instead of a 3/4 signature. The sound of the MG-1 reminded me of early computer game sounds and also inspired the direction of this track.
