This license means people can take your work and use it when they give you credit for making it. i.e. a streamer who is not making money could use your music in their background but only if they showed who wrote it or mentioned who wrote it.
NonCommercial means that no one can use your music under this license to make money.
No Derivatives means they no one can use your music / remix it etc.
You still own the music and you can license it to other people under a different license if you want. Someone wants to remix it and pay you they can if they get a new license from you, someone wants to release your music and pay you they can if they get a new license from you, you want to release your own music anywhere you want you can you own the music.
all it means is that OSC can upload the submission to archive.org and people can listen to it or use it somewhere they're not making money from it.

You are wrong it does not stop you making money off the song.hope4ever wrote: Wed Apr 27, 2022 12:39 am Thinking some more (I have no idea if i am correct)..
So you release with a no time limit CC NC etc license basically to everyone, which stops you from making money off the song.
Yes you can release your song under any other license you want after this.hope4ever wrote: Wed Apr 27, 2022 12:39 am 'Maybe' later you can release the song under a different commercial license and license a record label with this so they can sell your song.
The public do buy things that have been released under CC licenses all the time, as i said above if a DJ wants to play your song or anyone wants to make money from it they can't do it under the non-commercial license they need a new license from you.hope4ever wrote: Wed Apr 27, 2022 12:39 am The public will not buy that song from the record label when they find out they can hop online and download the song for free.
in what position? putting your song out that people want to listen to? use your song in a commercial? in a film? on tv etc? all that needs a new license. If the song is good enough they will license it so that they can make money.hope4ever wrote: Wed Apr 27, 2022 12:39 am The record label will not put themselves in that position, they simply will not sign you in the first place.

CONTROL FREAKS HAVE NO JOYSTICK (Only Button Pushing)
control freak
noun INFORMAL
* A person who feels an obsessive need to exercise control over others and to take command of any situation.
button pushing
Pronunciation /ˈbʌtn ˌpʊʃɪŋ/
NOUN
* The action or an act of exerting influence, typically by eliciting or provoking a strong emotional or psychological response in a person.
joystick
noun [ C ]
UK /ˈdʒɔɪ.stɪk/ US /ˈdʒɔɪ.stɪk/
1. A device that can be moved forwards, backwards, and sideways to control a machine or computer game.
2. Slang for a joint ( /dʒɔɪnt/), which is commonly referred to as a spliff[1], that makes one move backwards, forwards and sideways in space and time.
Number of Surrealistic MG-1 Plus instances: 99
DAW: Cubase 11 Pro
Cubase FX: VST Bass Amp (no usage of unallowed effects like distortion/overdrive etc. at all - Only stuff like compression), StereoDelay, Squasher, Roomworks, Revelation, PingPong Delay, Multitap Delay (same as with Bass Amp - only allowed effects - autopan), MonoDelay, ModMachine & Autopan
Free FX:
Zeek STFU, Valhalla Supermassive, TDR Nova, TDR Kotelnikov, Mautopan, MCharmverb, ChowTape & Toneboosters Free Legacy V3: TB Reverb, TB Reelbus, TB Ferox, TB Equalizer & TB BusCompressor.

All these various new ideas came about from me changing all the strings on my Jamstik Studio MIDI guitar and making some random tuning I've never played before.
So an alternative title to this song more in line with musical things could be:
MIDI Control Geeks Have No Jamstik
(Only Keyboard Pushing)
Hahaha ouch! Just kidding all keyboard players!
(Probably 99 % of all reading this and entering OSC…)
Hopefully one day another MIDI guitarist will join OSC so we can battle!
There's already some reviews out there for this OSC entry by some music industry heavyweights!
Q: What's the difference between a garbage truck and a baritone saxophone?
A: One's a massive, noisy, scum-encrusted hulk and the other is a public sanitation vehicle.
Q: What is the difference between a saxophone and a lawnmower?

Hello.
My first attempt at an OSC. Lots of fun, and a really testing challenge.
EDIT: Reuploaded a new version with no third party effects, and notes revised below
https://soundcloud.com/user-395136175-4 ... -nurture-1
This raw sounding virtual analog synth was perfect for channeling some Boards Of Canada downtempo mellow chill grooves. Even including helicopters, birds tweeting and wind blowing. Unfortunately MG-1 does not have the ability to model children laughing or counting so the similarities to BoC end there.
Anyway, I've loved MG-1 since it was released. It has the most gnarly filter on any VSTi I've heard and it's MONSTEROUS envelope (22 seconds of release time...hell yeah). It's a raw synth and harnessing that rawness took some finessing but it was really fun.
I really tried to use only host effects, and where I could I did. It annoyed me to have to do this, but I had to resort to CableGuys ShaperBox LFO of TAL Filter Cutoff to modulate pan and filter as I could not get Cubase AutoLFO to work as desired. Mixed with lots of automation in the arrangement, and mastered on the stereo out with native EQ and an instance of Waves L1 Supermaximizer. native Maximizer
For once I managed to keep a track under 5:00, something of a feat for me. Get in, get out, leave 'em wanting more. Hopefully.
Free to download, free to share, Cubase project file on request. Screenshots below.
Quick breakdown
DAW : Cubase Pro 9.5
VST Instances : 17 instrument tracks
Native FX : StudioEQ, Tube Compressor, Vintage Compressor, Limiter, MonoDelay, PingPong Delay, Roomworks(Reverb), Quadrafuzz, DaTube
3rd Party FX : CableGuys ShaperBox TAL Filter, CableGuys PanCake, Waves L1 Super, Valhalla Supermassive
MIDI FX : Arpache, AutoLFO, StepDesigner

On the 1st of the next month they edit the very first post of the thread and link to a soundcloud account where all the entries are in a playlist together. Additionally the site where you vote will have all the entries together.Madmac66 wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 8:29 pm I searched on SoundCloud for OSC158 entries and results were 12

The OSC has a rule that only free third party effects are allowed, so I'm afraid your ShaperBox (other than PanCake) and Waves L1 are out.Madmac66 wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 8:13 pm I really tried to use only host effects, and where I could I did. Er, no I dont think thats correct. Reading the rules it states that any third party effects are allowed as long as they are freely available and not esoteric beta vaporware. The free list, to my understanding, is only there to help newcomers get access to a wider variety of plugins.FrogInPants
I stand to be corrected, but if that is not the case it needs to be made much clearer thenMost 3rd party plugin effects are allowed

Only 3rd party FX which are FREE, ie cost nothing are allowed. FX which have been on a limited free download, a time limited free licence etc, magware etc are also not allowed.
Anything you paid money for , ie a commercial effect, will be not allowed in this challenge.
HTH
dB
If the organisers wish to re-create your track if they ask for the project file they MUST be able to download and install ALL the software used. This has not happened very many times to my knowledge, but this is one of the reasons for the only FREE FX rule exists.

How much clearer do you need it to be made? Most 3rd party plugin effects are allowed (Again, see below for what NOT to use):
3rd party effects must be easily available freeware: this does not include plug-in betas, demos, magware or freeware that has expired, unless a special exception is made that month.

Hey All,
https://soundcloud.com/impedancemusic/d ... -mg-1-plus
so here is my submission for this month. If I did a good job you can already guess based on the thumbnail, what the track is inspired of
I guessed the Moog-Sound just shouts after a Kraftwerkish track. I knew how it will sound - You know how it will sound - We all know it will sound 80s as usual XD But anyways, eventhough I listened to a lot of Kraftwerk in the past, I never made a Kraftwerk-like track before, so that was an interesting approach in guessing how to create that feel and composition, with bringing in some of my own style as a twist. (Ok, i covered "Das Modell" once, back when I didn´t even know how to edit presets. Or what an EQ does. It sounded exactly like you would expect) But most importantly I let myself be inspired by the early "hits" from Kraftwerk, like Mensch-Maschine, Die Roboter or Radioaktivität and of course "Computer Welt" an Album from Kraftwerk released in the 1980s to not sound to much like the 1980s... I might see a problem in my thought-process there.
Here are the stats:
DAW: FL Studio 20
Instances: 40
FX:
Fruity Parametric EQ2 [12]
Fruity Limiter [5]
Maximus [1]
TDR Nova [1]
MAnalyzer [1]
Youlean Loudness Meter [1]
OTT [1]
Fruity Compressor [1]
Fruity Stereo Enhancer [3]
Fruity Reeverb 2 [6]
Fruity Delay 3 [7]
Fruity Convolver [1]
TAL Reverb-2 [2]
And now something (kinda) else:
Today [edit: I missed it with 1-minute XD] is my 3rd anniversary in participating in the OSC, so I thought I´m not stressed-out enough with my life, let´s do a video with all of my OSC entries - That won´t take too long. A month. It took a month. But here it is: A hour and 11 minutes of bad to kinda acceptable quality music. This entry starts at 01:07:08.

Those familiar with the rules probably wouldn't expect that someone would read this as though most plugins, whether free or commercial, are permitted, but free plugins must not be betas, demos, or the like. I definitely think this is a misreading of the rule, but I can see how it might be easier to misread than long time participants realize, because the prominent part of the bullet point seems in isolation to be more permissive. Simply inserting "free" after "most" would bring the key requirement to the front of the bullet point where it is most quickly understood. Or drop the first sentence entirely. Or split it out into a separate bullet point with a different focus, like, "Most types of effects plugins are allowed, but see below for what NOT to use."SeBaer wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:51 pmHow much clearer do you need it to be made? Most 3rd party plugin effects are allowed (Again, see below for what NOT to use):
