Why does Pre-roll not work for Audio tracks in Clip Launcher?

With Pre-roll enabled, it only works for me when clicking record in MIDI track slots -- I'll get the expected count-in. But for audio tracks in the clip launcher, recording starts immediately, the moment I click the record button in a clip slot. It is completely ignoring the Pre-count setting. Why? I want a pre-count when doing vocals and guitar, etc, exactly the same as I want it for recording MIDI parts.

Toggling 'start transport on record' in the settings does nothing to change this behavior, whether on nor off.

What's going on?

Just to be sure we are talking about the same thing -- do you mean in the Clip Launcher? Because count-in works for me, for audio tracks, in the Arranger view, but not in the clip launcher.

Well that's truly bizarre. Running current version on iMac / Big Sur. As far as I can recall, count-in for audio tracks in clip launch has never worked for me, on any version I've ever had.
