Hi bjt2,
Nice intriguing intro.
Love the sensual melody, quite peaceful and engaging.
I like the piano play as well.
I was looking for the sax.
Nice job

Very intriguing, gentle, quirky little piece - the repetitive groove is interesting both melodically and rhythmically.

Sax sound (after 2 mins) is an appropriate choice, but maybe needs a little bit more movement on those sustained notes + possible changes in articulation....slides up to notes etc to make it a little bit more smooth?

Enjoyed it!

Thanks for the advice. I am a beginner, so I have only a vague idea of what articulation is and the sax is sampled. May I add a bit of glide?

Articulation - the different ways the sax can be played...

Yeah, you could slide up to notes / down away from the end of notes via pitch bend?

Choose different patches in the sampler - short notes / sustained notes / growls etc

add a little movement / vibrato to sustained notes via continuous controller 1 (CC1)... drawn in via the piano roll view or entered via the modulation wheel on a keyboard?

Depends on what your sampled sax can do really? They're all a bit different.

I use Ableton Live. There is the possibility to use the Midi CCs, but you must go into the clip details and add an automation track (I don't have a controller). Moreover I don't know if the predefined Ableton instruments respond to the standard MIDI CCs, and I must study the predefined controls, but they seem pretty limited. For this and other reasons (one for all: i love programming) I made my own VST (i am a computer engineer) and i published it in this forum (here: viewtopic.php?t=581986 ). I will study the matter a little bit (i must also learn the correct terminology) and see if the sax responds to the MIDI CCs and eventually add the automations... If not, i can use the samples and my VST to make a custom sax, why not?
