I'm thinking of changing my profile link name, but that is going to affect the player link in the voting poll. I'm wondering if it is ok for me to change it shortly after voting ends before the tracks get uploaded on the OSC website.

I just finished my voting duties. several very good tracks, again. 9 x 5 pt, 11 x 4 pt. from me. Thank you all for sharing your work.

Voted. I listened to a lot of beautiful music and inspiring ideas.

Done voting. This month was full of great tracks and surprises, especially on the sound design. I am very glad I participated and learned to use the Surge synth. Had heard many good things about the synth but never took the time to install and learn it. Definitely a very inspiring synth built by a community of geniuses :)

That's me done voting. Second month on this and I'm enjoying having something to make me actually 'finish' a track. That and taking time to sit down and just listen to music without any other distractions. Most enjoyable.

However, if he doesn't complete the next OSC without using a DAW, I'll be disappointed ;)
ADLplug has a standalone version, and you can definitely voice a whole song using only one instance... so there's definitely an opportunity for a DAW-less track in OSC 160.
That said, I probably won't be the one to do it; I'm doing non-OSC music shenanigans this month and probably won't take the time to make a track.

DoctorBob has voted and commented. Such an impressive round (as expected). Some really good (for me) standout tracks. This time I divided into 3's and 4's. Then promoted about 10 from 4 to 5 and moved a few from the 3 to the 4. The line between 3 and 4 is very blurred IMO, so if you got a 3 from me it could have been 4 easily. Well done all

Also voted.

This is good music overload. And then I turn on a videogame or movie and as often as not the music is kind of bleh or there isn't music when it really would be better if there was. Music in Elden Ring sucks ass.

I voted also, in the first few days. I've gone for a fairly even spread (which I think the guidance asked for?), which shouldn't diminish the efforts of any at the lower end.

I've also been working through commenting on them, but I struggle to get a feel for the level of commenting/crit that is welcome. It might be helpful for folks to indicate what type of comments they're looking for (in their description?), because we're all at different stages of our musical explorations, and looking for different things from comments. We see different things in our personal interpretation of others' work, and sometimes that perspective can be welcome with the right consent.

I notice one entrant has disabled comments, which is fair enough, and that helps me understand what they want. Sampling this month's comments, it looks like we're generally a positively-encouraging bunch, with a sprinkling of helpful advice based on personal interpretation.

How do you feel about this?

Post

Yes possibly some people don't actually want to hear critical comments. But they may not want to admit that that is the case. So yes, you just don't know if constructive feedback is actually truly welcome. That's just how it goes I think.

Post

How I've approached this over the years: I try to leave at least one positive comment about something I like on a track, but if I notice something that could really be improved try to leave a helpful comment about that, too. Generally it's just positive comments.

Post

For what little it's worth, I don't want just positive comments. It especially sucks to only get positive comments and then place really low.
