There shouldn't be anything wrong with that but realistically someone will see that only you gave them a 1 and remember next month when voting. Sorry to suggest this negative thing. I like to assume the best of people. Perhaps electronic music makers are better than most other people.rilderec wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:36 pm (Reverso traduction)
I put a lot of 1 and 2, a little less than 3, 4 and finally very little 5. This time I only put a track with 5 points.
It’s the best way to bring your favorite songs to the top of the leaderboard.

For some reason SC doesn't work for me today (the tracks doesn't show up). If I would handle that, I will make a few more comments...

yes the voting site suddenly broke for me earlier today. Got about half-way through listening to the tracks today, but won't load the soundcloud widgets anymore

I thought the Idea is to judge tracks by their merits, rather than try and push one's favorites. But maybe I'm wrong and will have to adjust scoring for your track.rilderec wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 12:36 pm (Reverso traduction)

Very tough this time
Over 50 entries ...
But very well done by everyone
As every time ... thanks for this great Vst synth. Its features are outstanding for a free one.
And thanks to Bj and Richard for their effort to keep this thing running

I don't have a problem when people have different "scales" for giving points, as long as they use that scale consistently, and they score each track taking into account the same rules / criteria.ELEX wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 1:30 pmI thought the Idea is to judge tracks by their merits, rather than try and push one's favorites. Maybe some people judge entries on an "absolute" scale, meaning that 3p in one contest means the same as 3p in a previous instance of the contest. Other people might judge in a "differential" way (meaning that if there are some really outstanding tracks who get the 5p, the other tracks are pushed down accordingly - which might score higher in other circumstances - in order to keep enough differentiation in between). Or the other way around, it might be that if the synth is really limited and there is no track which fulfills expectations for 5p, tracks are pushed up.
In my opinion, consistency throughout the round is key.
Scoring tracks based on how other people define their "scale" is something I would not encourage.

I have voted.
Excellent tracks this month in all genres - @silverpants went back to his dark soundtrack style, a superb sequel to ”A Behemothaur Approaches” - but even darker!
I would say that @ELEX and @Double Tap , without a doubt, made the most humorous tracks!
(sorry for not leaving comments!)
Superb video game Jazz-Fusion by @cdbaksu and @ZioMau !!
Great imagination trip by @IV! (especially the last third part!!!)
@Marks-a-whybikky - 5 points after just one listen! (have to listen many more times though)
@j5v amazing physical modeling stuff!
@Leonard Bowman (only effects!!!)
Plus many other really great top scoring tracks not mentioned but the @Korg Supporter Jack Frost's entry really spoke to me the most of all the entries.
I'm also saying goodbye to all of you OSCers, I started on my entry really late into the month but what really made me discard the entry completely with no plans to participate at all was after my mother out of nowhere had to be taken to the hospital - turns out she had water in her lungs and a damaged heart valve. She had heart surgery and I obviously felt very sad/depressed & extreme stress but when she finally woke up from the surgery and I heard her voice I thought I'd might as well, in the very last minute, upload my Surge XT entry with all its flaws etc.
That is the reason I've hardly commented on entries or answered the comments on my own entry.
My mother was surprised that I was so sad and said: - ”But you're a buddhist!”
Hehehe hmmm she obviously have no clue that The Buddha said that one's parents are more worthy of gifts and praise than all the various Devas in the heavens and the Gods in higher realms(!). That you can never repay your parents for all they've done for you.
The Buddha also said that the tears one has shed, from losing loved ones over and over again in all the various previous lives one has had, is greater than all the oceans…Pretty much sums it up!
Now I will focus on taking care of my mother as she recovers, spoil her with good food and obviously not participate in upcoming OSC's or even be that active on the internet.
I've met some really great people here (you know who you are!) who have inspired me not only when it comes to music production tricks & music/harmony but also other stuff!
I might show up here in OSC again maybe 4-5 months from now, but in the meantime a big thank you to everybody! Keep on making those OSC tracks!
Take care everybody and congrats in advance to the top 5!

I wish your mother a speedy recovery. You are doing the right thing ... spoil her! I didn't get the chance to look after my mother, and was not allowed to visit her in hospital due to COVID restrictions, and sadly she passed away last year. I did at least get to talk to her on the phone.Yadrichik_Chaya wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 8:21 pm Now I will focus on taking care of my mother as she recovers, spoil her with good food ...

I voted. From my feeling this time it was even harder than before. So many good titles. You all have put a lot of work into this. Surge is probably an inspiring tool.
I love the Trance song but also the guitar simulations, the drum and bass and the dubstep title. So much variation this time. Impressive.
Regards!

It’s the best way to bring your favorite songs to the top of the leaderboard.
Judging the songs "on merit" and "pushing your favorites" is the same thing. We vote for the songs we prefer and not for anything else.
If we have a favorite lead, it’s because we think it has merit.
Yes, I try to rate the tracks to merit, but it’s hard because sometimes there are tracks that are very worked, but I don’t like too much, as a matter of taste, so I put 1 + 1 for the work on the track.
When there are some that are worked and I like the melodies or the atmosphere, I put 3 or 4.
Then I put 5 to the ones I really like a lot, I download them to listen to them in my playlists afterwards.
I note mostly the taste.
I don’t know anyone here, so I only vote for taste, for sentiment that listening gives me.
I can put 4 or 5 for one person at a OSC and put 1 at the next OSC to the same person, depending on the track. Otherwise, it’s cheating.
To be honest Elex, I already gave you a 2 (OSC#158), but also a 4 (OSC#157) I had put a heart on soundcloud because I really liked it.
(I know this because I copy my notes into a .txt file before voting and keep this file)
It would be preferable for the hearings to be public.
Because for my first OSC, it was hard, I only had tracks in 4 or 5 at first glance, so I decided to rate like that, otherwise it’s useless. Then I saw some tracks that I liked to have bad scores, so I think I have a good way to rate now.
