This is another track from my unreleased "mystery CD" (incomplete ruff mix).

This one is an original and sports my band which includes a grammy and juno award winner. (kudos to them!)

"Midnight Poem" is a Jazz Ballad.

This is an unusual tune in that there are several key changes and some dense chords, more attune to avant garde jazz.

This means that the vocal melody line has to follow dissonant changes while remaining melodic.

Does it work?

The instruments include live drums, upright bass, acoustic and electric guitars, vocals and harmonies, percussion.

Hope you enjoy...!

Very jazzy, and chill!!!
I love the vocals, very magical, in all the turns and twist of the melody and harmony.
Truly enjoying this recording.

Yes, she did a great job on the vocals.....

The mix sounds great. At least for my ears... and you call it a ruff mix??? my amateur ears...

I personally would have chosen some notes in the melody differently. I would have (at a few places) gone even more after the harmonies, even if that had meant a few unmelodic jumps. But that's a personal decision. After a minute at the latest, I've gotten used to the style.
it is better to have a track with some mistakes than a track without any soul

This really works well. There is a restaurant here, where you might expect
a time traveled Sinatra to escort your vocalist to the best seating and service
after the set, in the very darkly lit house. Evocative of times gone by,
but not forgotten. I hope Rick Beato here's it 8)

This is great! I love the fresh melodies that result from this approach. Excellent music and beautifully performed. The little guitar licks are the icing on this delicious cake.
Well done!

Does it work?
Of course it works :D

I loved the chords, and the way the vocals weaved their way around them was very pleasant to listen to.

I thought the song recalled some of Joni's work from the mid '70s.

Great mix too.

Good work :)
