"For years I’ve had major plans for Absynth, and although this is a disappointing turn of events, these ideas could manifest as new stuff from Rhizomatic."

They can't discontinue Massive or FM8 yet, when they have sold out the stock of Maschine+ which ships with Massive and FM8 built in, then they can discontinue Maschine+ and Massive and FM8.
Maschine+ is an embarrassment to Soundwide, they have no interest in it, but discontinuing the built in synths before you have sold off the last of the hardware stock, that would be a bad business choice, even for Venture Capitalists.

Absynth was unique and special 15-20 years ago. It clearly shows its age now. The filters are weak, the fx are very limited, granular synthesis very basic, the GUI causes headache. I think alot of people have a nostalgic attachment for Absynth. But there are a lot of options today that totally surpass Absynth and what it does in term of synthesis, such as Omnisphere, Falcon, Novum, Pigments, etc.
It’s still sad though NI didn’t maintain it over the last years, definitely too late now with that competition.
Anyone surprised here? Hey, it’s NI after all…

Yes it is weaker compared to modern synths but it also depends what you do. Old music is also a lot of times not weak cause made with beginning of 2000s synths hence people wanna make music which sounds nostalgic....Neon Breath wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 4:47 am Absynth was unique and special 15-20 years ago. My biggest gripe is how long may you legally use absynth 5? NI sucks and doesnt provide offline installers/authorization so far. Not many people are ranting about it. You cannot expect to have a bst working forever, yeah but i paid for it and wanna use it and try to use it as far as i can and not get switched off like this... so again the illegal scene is in advantage with the activation issues and a legal customer gets a middlefinger. And NI did it already, people shoumdnt scream when it is too late. Now is the time to flood them withwxpression and show with walletts. But i doubt this happens as people neber learn.

That will be interesting. I guess you can still install and activate it when you own it.Caine123 wrote: My biggest gripe is how long may you legally use absynth 5? NI sucks and doesnt provide offline installers/authorization so far.
But that's the reason I stick as much to key file activation as possible for my main tools. You don't have to think about stuff like that. At least when you're a Windows and non Cubase user (vst2 drop)

Waiting for evil dragon to explain why this is a good thing and if there is a bad aspect to this, it’s Apple’s fault.
