I just use the one in Cubase - Groove Agent. I'd imagine most DAWs nowadays have something similar. I looked at one or two drum plugins but TBH they don't offer much of anything over and above the stock DAW s/w IMO.

If it's Depeche Mode you're going for specifically, I would go with Arturia Emulator II and CMI. Unless you want really early (Vince Clarke era) DM, then you want the ARP 2600 for drums.
I don't know that they ever used a dedicated drum machine. I don't think that was ever their style.

Also TR-808 (Broken Frame), Drumulator (Construction Time Again), and Yamaha RX-11 (Black Celebration) - but I agree that it wasn't their style to use dedicated drum machines in the way they are commonly used. They'd use a sound from one here, a sound from another there, but were very careful to avoid having a stock sound by using too much of any.ramseysounds wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 11:47 amThey used a Boss DR-55 in the very early daysjamcat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 9:17 pm If it's Depeche Mode you're going for specifically, I would go with Arturia Emulator II and CMI. Just lately I've been using the IK Multimedia Neil Peart kit, even though they aren't electronic, and they're from an album in the 2000s.
I wish it also had the Simmons sounds he used on the Grace Under Pressure album.
