If everything is simplified, then the Omnisphere is enough for most ambient needs. It's just made for it

You can turn nearly any sound into an ambient drone by sending it through some FX. For edgier sounds rather than peaceful new-age pads, take a listen to the free Glitchmachines Hysteresis. https://glitchmachines.com/products/hysteresis/
