Ok, be aware the theme needs 1x, 2x and 4x bitmap resources.
Feel free to ask any questions here about it, the coords.xml file is relatively easy to understand for any experienced coder.

Disagreed, as a musician one should only know if the product can be used for commercial use or not (like royalty free samples to make an example). The fine grain about opensource, copyright etc. shouldn't be relevant.falkTX wrote: Sun Dec 18, 2022 8:42 pmI really think you should, care a bit at least.Vortifex wrote: Sun Dec 18, 2022 8:37 pmYes of course. I'm just saying, as a musician who knows nothing about coding etc, I don't really care about the open source aspect of it.discoDSP wrote: Sun Dec 18, 2022 7:41 pmThe idea is keeping OB-Xd free for non-profit usage and fully functional in trial which seems fair enough to me.Vortifex wrote: Sun Dec 18, 2022 7:37 pm So not useful for non-programmers then, which is fine. I don't really care if something is open source or not. If it's good then I'll use it, free or otherwise if the price is right.
When something is proprietary / closed-source, it is only in the hands of the authors to keep the product going. If something bad happens to them, it is all over.
On the other hand, when something is opensource it is possible for someone to continue the work beyond what the original author could, like what happened with OBXD here. Similarly, thanks to recent-ish opensource of Surge and other synths, it was possible for someone to take over and revive these great synths.
It is not a guarantee of course, we are talking about real people doing stuff, projects dont just live forever because they are opensource. But at least they have a chance if there is someone that cares enough about them.
For non-coders, there is a chance to be able to pay someone to work on them as last resort too.
I am still quite sad about AudioGL just disappearing...
Would have happily continued the project if there was code to work with
Just knowing this can determine the decision to adopt or not the product.
And... I could release a song for purchase, then the revenue is zero or something alike... is this still commercial use? I guess so, and it makes little sense IMO.
But at least now everything - or almost - is clear.

Jonathan Heppner? He is mentioned at the link below as having worked on the 'Form' sample tool from Native Instruments:falkTX wrote: Sun Dec 18, 2022 8:42 pm I am still quite sad about AudioGL just disappearing...

In the U.S. the individual states have probate laws in case a deceased person has left no
'last will and testament' type of document, so assets are not too hard to follow in the months
after someone dies.
There are separate laws for busines entities that terminate, so some sleuthing might turn up
details about the AudioGL coder or team, asset holders or inheritors, who might be happy
to find your interest.
The success of the Surge team is one of many examples you could point such people to.
Cheers

Release 2.11 is getting ready.
macOS and Linux builds are ready now, but there is a batch of some strange error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol on Windows, so that OS will take a bit more.
In the meanwhile 2.11 is already available at https://www.discodsp.com/obxd/
What's new
George.

Does the "Save to Preset Slot" automatically save the Bank with the new preset?discoDSP wrote: Tue Dec 20, 2022 11:46 am Release 2.11 is getting ready.

Yes. If you don’t use the function the preset and bank stores on the plugin state and will be recalled on the project.
This is useful for hosts that don’t deal with FXB extensions or to quickly update a bank. I have to check if the installer overwrites them by the way, so always keep your backups.

Cool!
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

I haven't been here for a while and, despite all this open source/licensing drama, I'm glad to see that OB-Xd is still being kept up-to-date and improved. I downloaded the latest version to check how much it has changed since the last time I used it (was v1.5, I think), and I definitely like it. The resizable GUI, visible parameter values, preset bar (simple yet efficient) makes OB-Xd a joy to use. The sound is as great as I remember it.
To my mind, George and team deserves the 49.00 USD/EUR, even if you are not using OB-Xd for commercial purposes, simply for the fact that maintaining and improving the plugin is not easy and it takes time.
Speaking of which, I wonder what are the future plans for OB-Xd? Will there be a 2nd LFO someday? Maybe a modulation matrix? Also, will these hidden parameters ever be "exposed" to the main GUI?

In my view, having access to continuous keytracking knob instead of a button, "PW Env" knob, "PW Env Both" and "FEnv Invert" buttons on the main GUI would be a great enhancement to the sound design capabilities and versatility of the OB-Xd.EvilDragon wrote: Tue Aug 04, 2020 7:28 pm BTW here's the full list of hidden parameters and what they do:
PW Offset (unipolar knob) - offsets the Osc 2 pulsewidth using PW knob as a baseline value.
PW Env (unipolar knob) - amount of Filter Envelope applied to Osc 2 pulsewidth.
PW Env Both (button) - Filter Envelope will modulate pulsewidth of both oscillators (when enabled) instead of just Osc 2 (when disabled).
FEnv Invert (button) - inverts the Filter Envelope output (for everything it modulates).
Self-Osc Push (button) - when filter is in 12dB mode, boosts the resonance so that it's more pronounced.
Level Dif (knob) - some sort of volume compensation in the filter, it's quite subtle. It needs a better name.
Economy Mode (button) - this shouldn't be exposed to GUI, it's basically enabled by default, if it's disabled, CPU usage rises quite a lot (with no matching change/improvement in sound). I wonder if this was some sort of debug mode or something.
Oh, and as mentioned before, filter keytracking works as a continuous parameter so there should be no problems in using a knob for it instead of a button. It just needs a separate definition in the XML for that - then on the GUI you would use either a button or a knob, but never both simultaneously.
