Yes. Let's just say their tech support is not quite at the same level as Deskew's.

In most cases the presets weren't even modified.
It should function the same way on both laptops.
I will try copying various IK folders on my old laptop and put them in the same path on the new laptop and see what happens.

Thanks, everyone, I should have some time to investigate this Sunday. I have several different ideas.
One of ideas is to change a Syntronik setting in the new laptop and save the (modified) Gig file. I would take note of the time/date.
Then look for files that were created or modified at the time/date. One of those files should be responsible (or is needed) to ensure the Gig file in the new laptop loads up the correct "sounds".
That should give me a clue if there is a file I need to copy from my old laptop along with the Gig file when I want to open it up/use it in the new laptop.
There are other things I'll do to (thx, checking all file paths is on the list too).
Thx, all.
Jeff
PS: After a few days, IK tech support finally got back to me and asked me to send them a "video" of the issue. I suspect this is their way of hoping I just go away.

Hi, what is your OS and can you post the path settings you see in Syntronik? I don't use Gig but I assume you load it as a plugin and the path settings are in the plugin of Syntronik. You really shouldn't be having this much trouble with it. It's a pretty straight forward and simple application. It just looks in the folder path for content and presets.jeffn1 wrote: Sat Jan 07, 2023 2:57 pm Thanks, everyone, I should have some time to investigate this Sunday. I have several different ideas.

Thanks, I will work on this and post tomorrow. I have not had that much time to work on this. Tomorrow I will use my latest gig file and have both computers running (attached to controllers, audio interfaces, etc.) so I can look at all the settings
The OS on the new laptop is Windows 11. The OS on the old laptop is Windows 10.
The reason it is weird Syntronik seems to work fine in the new laptop, but it is just not loading the sounds/settings using the information from the Gig File as it should (and does not my "old" laptop).
Yes, maybe its as simple as I don't have Syntronik using same file path in both computers. So the Gig file "says" get a preset using a certain file path (based on my old laptop) and that file path is not present in the new laptop. That makes sense.
Yes, I am hoping once I have time to spend on this (tomorrow) I can figure it out. (I appreciate everyone's input).

... what happens if you create a new project on the new system and try to open it on the old one?

Hmm, I have not tried that yet. But, I could see that might give some insight on the cause.

Is there a way, within Syntronik, to confirm all the file paths is uses?

From within Syntronik 2, content paths are located in [Settings > Library > Syntronik Sound Content].jeffn1 wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 6:20 pm Is there a way, within Syntronik, to confirm all the file paths is uses?
For the rest of the application install one will need to poke through file explorer. In my install I have all of the content located at "D:\Syntronik 2". The standalone .exe is located at "C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\Syntronik 2", and there is a "settings.properties" file in my user "\AppData\Roaming\IK Multimedia\Syntronik 2" path (an XML file describing my hardware properties, etc.).
Windows 10 and too many plugins

Hello, k-v-r,
It “seems” I got everything working perfectly on my new laptop.
I am a bit embarased to say I am not sure what happened that fixed the issue.
When I starting working on this today, I opened up a (slightly) more recent Gig (project) file copied from the old laptop to the new machine.
I was confused for a while because I was not hearing any audio. So, I fumbled around checking audio card settings. Then I remembered my discussion on the GP board about midi inputs and setting up the Rig Manager. (I use two keyboards, with a duplicate set for gigs/rehearsals).
I had already set up Rig Manager settings, but I think I had to change all the midi input blocks to apply the Rig Manager settings (I may not be using correct terminology).
So, I changed all the midi inputs (which GP makes it relatively painless to do).
And “wala” everything seems to be working perfectly.
I’ve tried to figure out how this change may have caused the correct Syntronik “sounds” to populate.
Or maybe there is something else I’m missing.
As always, thanks for the help (I'm sure it won’t be the last time
!).
Jeff
PS: On my old laptop I went back to a song I have not played through in a while and a sound that should have been recalled for a song did not loaded it up. I loaded it up, saved the Gig file, reopened it, and it was there. It seems like if you have not used a "sound" in a song in a while, it might stop loading until you load it and save the Gig file again?

Quick question: if you buy Syntronik 2 Max v2 and just want to use the String Box, do you need to install the full sample pack (240 GB) ?
