Hi G_J,
This beat is so invigorating, perks me up instantly!!!
Lovely and hip creation.
I am digging the changes in rhythm.

There are enough ideas for several songs crammed into two minutes.
I would call it instrumental punk pop for people with short attention spans. Very cool.

Yep, it sounds like pop punk to me too. Thanks for listening and commenting.Frantz wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 3:00 am There are enough ideas for several songs crammed into two minutes.

The transitions should probably be slower/longer. I can understand how they'd be jarring. I made some minor adjustments to the arrangement and mix (muted some synth parts, centered the distorted bass guitar, automated the volume of guitar tracks) that hopefully are an improvement or at least an interesting alternative. Thanks for listening and commenting.seismic1 wrote: Wed Jan 11, 2023 11:44 pm It took me a few listens of each version to get used to the tempo transitions/changes, but I got there in the end. I think I prefer the vocal mix. It seems to be a more comfortable fit with the punk/power-pop aesthetic.
Good work![]()

Genetic_Junk,
Thank you for the review! Now your alt vocal version: high energy and fast! And then it slows down. Good to have variety. I was anticipating it going back to fast, though I was wrong. Now trying new version with vocals: the alt version vocals seem to cut through the mix better for me, though singing style (on non-alt) is more conventional, which in some ways appeals to me more. Vocals could be a touch louder for me on this mix, but many feel I often mix vocals too loud on my own songs. Hard to pick a favorite. They are both quite good!

I prefer the Alt Vocal Version since the mix is clearer. It sounds a bit like They Might Be Giants binging on double espresso shots. Intense but good.

I listened to the "alt"-version: Ooops, the song doesn't seem to have a start at all,
but you jump straight into the chorus and have to get your bearings first. The
slower parts are easy to understand, the guitar sound has many overtones and
few mids.
My conclusion: Great approaches and ideas! But you could make the song even
better if you rearranged it again - and if you dealt with every single instrument
very carefully. Approach and ideas are great!

Thanks for listening again Frantz. Yeah, I intentionally brought down some of the synths that were just needlessly taking up harmonic space. Glad it was a noticeable difference. They Might Be Giants reference is much appreciated.Frantz wrote: Sat Jan 14, 2023 2:53 am I prefer the Alt Vocal Version since the mix is clearer.
