Another (almost)-single manufacturer jam, this time with Xaoc -- a challenge because all I have are Odessa, Koszalin, Katowice, Drezno and Tallin. I recorded a generative patch (using Teletype for clocking and quantizing Drezno), then overlaid a drone patch (using Kermit & Mini PEG for LFOs).

03 is fun! bot music 8) lots of interesting tones throughout :tu: gets a bit eerie towards the end. nice!

04 nice clockwork rhythm, has me in mind of chris vrenna, mcgees alice soundtrack for the mad hatter :ud:
always going to be a winner for me getting an alice vibe :D

05 nice bit of sonic weaving, letting everything surface for a time 8)
very open mix too, considering the weight of each sound 8)
if you don't want me to destroy you
take a leaf out of my book, turn it round and have a look...

I went all Arturia with this one. 5-step sequences on an Easel V (with Chorus Jun-6) and Minibrute 2S (with Plate 140), and two more Easel V instances (with Filter MS-20 and Tape Mello-Fi) for creepiness and "digieridrone". Really pleased with how it turned out :)

Oh man, I loved that soundtrack. So I'll take that as high praise :D

I feel like this one didn't really pull together the way I would have liked, after the first minute or so. If I were recording stuff for an album this would have gone in the "no" folder, along with a few notes about what elements worked and what didn't. But it's Jamuary, so here's the post.

Weird clangorous noises: Shapeshifter osc2 through Koszalin, Mimeophon
Drone/sequence: Lanciantes, in mid/side with the side through Blades, with lots of step sequencer modulation.
Brash "horns": Shapeshifter through Lacrima Versio, Natural Gate, Peradam, Beads, Valhalla Delay
Wide drone: Just Friends through Katowice, Function (for distortion), Gem Mod, Valhalla Vintage Verb

I almost never use sample libraries in my music, but I still have them anyway, so... here we go. Streichfett played on Launchpad Pro, everything else sequenced in Bitwig Note Grid instances.

Mel-Lofi, Objeq Delay, Imitor
Streichfett plugin, PCM2612, Desmodus, Spectre
Sound Dust Ghost Dulcitone 1900, Objeq Delay
Rhythmic Robot Hurdy Gurdy, Pitchproof, Raum
Lighter Percussion, Ravage
Spitfire Iron Drum, Ruina, Bitwig Convolution

Bass guitar, Koszalin, Beads, & Valhalla Delay.

I recorded a loop, changed the settings, and recorded live over the loop.

Strega is in there too, technically... I just forgot to even turn up the Blend so it's not doing a whole lot :hihi:

Same Strega/Koszalin/Beads/Valhalla Delay effects chain as yesterday, but I actually used Strega this time as well as feeding it Thingamagoop 3000 instead of bass. Beads is treating the material more gently instead of shredding it like yesterday.

Accompanying it is Odessa through Melotus Versio. I've always found that Odessa's inharmonic Tilt parameter pairs well with Koszalin's linear frequency shifts.

Thingamagoop 3000 through Bitwig Freq Shift and Koszalin (in opposite orders for left/right channels), Ruina, Objeq Delay.

Akemie's Castle (with levels modulated by Function) through Katowice (with frequency/width modulated by Stages LFOs), Mimeophon.

Rings feedback loop through Peradam, two Chipcrusher instances on mid/side, Ratshack Reverb. Sequenced loop from Marbles.

Blades (oscillating for the sub drone near the end) & Strega (arpeggiated by 0-Ctrl).

I'm finding it hard to keep up with listening to Jamuary tracks, let alone making them. I'm very impressed with you folks who have kept up with it. :tu:
I really enjoyed the most recent one. It blended well with the sound of traffic outside my window which added to the effect of sounds that kinds faded in and out of the forefront. Really nice!

This is great. Initially it sounded like the traffic outside… they’re always double-parking and someone is always honking. The sound are nicely blended. I love the way it ends. The ending notes sounding like the beginning of the national anthem.

Well done!

And again, great job in keeping up with Jamuary. I’ve now missed twice and might miss out more after we adopted another new cat and have family visiting starting Friday. Don’t know what we were thinking (about the timing of it all) but it’s been fun participating

The inevitable Mutable Instruments jam (except Planar) with quite a bit of VCV Rack giving me access to lots of virtual instances of modules...

1: Beads into Rings (Beads' frozen buffer contents was also Rings). Clocking and modulation from Marbles. Beads pitch modulated by two Stages LFOs crossfaded in Planar.

2: Blades with both filters oscillating, one modulating the other's Mode, AMd in Blinds by Stages. Pitch sequences from Marbles. Processed through two parallel instances of Clouds in VCV Rack.

3: In VCV Rack, 3x Plaits drones crossfaded in Frames, through 2x Clouds (one for mid-fi granular, one for lo-fi reverb).

4: Stages drone (hardware) through VCV Rack: LP2 and LP4 outputs of Ripples into Warps, through 2x Stages segments and Shades as lo-fi delays with feedback in stereo.

Looking back over the thread, I found I forgot to post the entry for the 17th:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVMFMm01QPE

- Hadean fretless ukulele bass, Trash 2, Blades (L) and Peradam (R), Beads
- Akemie's Castle, Imitor, with LFO and Clep Diaz modulation on levels
- Mimeophon, Melotus Versio, Lacrima Versio

Full mix through Velvet Machine (fading from full wet to full dry).

...........

And here's today's. I had thought about recording something with 11 different kinds of FM/PM voices from my Eurorack rig plus a few software FM voices for good measure... but thought better of it and picked three.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N98GaeDh8_c

- Just Friends through (and FMing) Koszalin, Horse*, Sandman Pro. Modulation from Function & Kermit, sequence from 0-Ctrl
- Odessa, FM'd by Akemie's Castle (modulation from Stages & Kermit), through Beads & ValhallaDelay
- Virt Iter Legio, PM'd by Mimeophon, through Supermassive, sequence from 0-Ctrl
- Synchrodyne & Strega

* an experimental dirty chorus VST plugin I wrote several years ago and use maybe once or twice a year.

2: Katowice feeding back through itself via Shades and Beads
3: Odessa through Rings, Arturia Filter MS-20
4: Strega through Mimeophon
Drums: Tymp Legio through Lacrima Versio, RX7 Declick, Invigorate

Clocked & modulated by Marbles & MiniPEG.

An all-Make Noise jam: Strega captured in Mimeophon, and also played live via 0-Ctrl with Function slewing the pitch.
