How is this percussion sound created?

Looking for help in creating similar percussion sounds to the one in this clip. I'm not sure if its made by a percussion creator type VST, or a sample that's been modified? Just looking for any clues you might have.

I think it`s mostly layered foley sample. I would approach this by going to https://freesound.org and searching for paper crumbling, chain jangling, coins and similar, then pitch it around on top of drum snap sample, + some short reverb, samplerate reduction plugin, maybe bit of distortion and some filter with a bit of resonance. Just an idea.
