If the only listenable music in your opinion and somewhat limited taste is danceable music, I get your point. But that is nothing which could be generalized, its just your taste. I find music made with these type of modulars as well listenable as also more interesting. Morton Subotnik had been mentioned, that is not just “someone”...

These kinds of synths are an exercise in frustration to me. Probably best for me to create some kind of random sounds, record them, and save them for a project later.

I experimented with the free ones from KB Plugs. They're 32bit so I had to use Jbridge. None of the synths have presets, so even routing the modules to get a sound is a chore in itself.

I keep forgetting about this. Mainly due to the price. Is it ever available for $100, or less?
