I still seem to have a license for the Dark Planet expansion on my elicenser - is this still working in Halion 7

It works fine

and can I transfer it to Steinberg licensing?

I mentioned that a few posts ago. We'll just have to wait until it happens (receive a voucher in mysteinberg).

Also how do you edit a macro? Would it be possible for me to change the graphics in existing Macros based instruments like Trium to make them larger? (since Steinberg couldn't be bothered to)

The issue with making macro pages larger is that they're no longer compatible with HALion Sonic, or at least it used to be like that - I don't know what the state is with ver 7 as you get FM Lab running in Sonic which is way beyond the limit.

And i've never seen a way to edit instruments like Trium in the past, either - I presumed they were all locked.

You can either open the designed into a new tab:

Or float a new macro designer pop-up window (My preference)

I mean, once you're in there you will have a million more questions. It's typically Steinberg and quite a steep learning curve to start with.

There is good walkthrough of creating your own instrument in HALion 7. If you speak German you're in luck

If you don't speak German you can click subtitles, and change the subtitles to English or whatever you prefer. The video details the entire process really well, all the way through exporting it and using it in HALion Sonic.

Yay first 'bug' confirmed at the Steinberg forums yesterday.. No recording input on MacOS standalone or in the plugin.
Looks like they forgot to add permissions to use the Mic..

I think there are quite a few other bugs- the new free plugin Colours also crashes quote a bit (confirmed)

There's crashes if you right click certain elements as well.. Ones which crash the DAW too:

Folks, i read that H7 replace H6 - do it mean that H6 will not able to use after upgrade ? Just need clarify.

It’s odd that after all this time they didn’t make a y new multi patches (it’s just the old sonic 3 ones) or even new HALion 7 presets (as far as I can tell, just the FM ones?) - they only introduced 2 new synths, and the spectral synth has no presets at all

Wondering this myself. I'd imagine that if I were to keep separate licenses they could run side by side. Although when they gave us a separate license for H6 to keep H5 also for older projects, it does have a tendency to get "confused" and stall or freeze at times.
Saw this new free sound bank and FM engine specifically omit H6 from its specifications and also the lower versions of Windows (some say as low as 8.1 while others omit that one too.)
Everything in their download/activation managers seems to imply it wants to eradicate previous versions though.

This forcing of certain upgrades could quite possibly kill Steinberg for me.
Too bad. I really like the software.
But if they've killed using it on my machines, then I'm unfortunately done with them.

Well, personally for me important keep ability to run H6 in any form (not necessary in parallel, although i agree this is would be not a bad bonus, for comparison or more handy bug catching. But ok it's not so critical).

But, loss of access to H6 license in general, this is already not so fun. Considering probable problems in new engine, and probable time of fixing it.
Which of course would not be a reason for me to reject the upgrade at all. But in such case, I would prefer to do it much later (even will be then a sale maybe lol).

Instead, i can be close to grab it for 99 right now, if will be sure that can always back to H6 if something.
