Hey all...
I'm on the hunt for either a collection of samples, a VST instrument, or possibly a synth that can give me "shrieking, screaming, whistling" sounds... essentially as per various rap/hip hop records such as Public Enemy, House of Pain, Cypress Hill, etc
Famously, Public Enemy's Rebel Without a Pause takes its sample from the JBs "Grunt" -- which is actually a sax. Other possible sources are actual whistling kettle samples and/or human screams.
All of the above could be sampled and manipulated with a bit of work...
What I'm really after is that kind of screamy sound at my fingertips as a pitchable sample or synth patch (I'm not very good at synthesis, unfortunately!).
Any thoughts how I might achieve this? Anyone know of anything out-of-the box that would do the job?
Sax FX, whistles, shrieks, screams, etc

This might be what you're looking for: this product from Have Audio has some unique articulations, techniques, and textures from an alto sax (at least on the demos that I heard; perhaps there are other saxes included.) It might get you closer than other instruments due to its proclivity towards the "outside." Its downside? It's an alto sax and not a tenor (I think most people immediately assume tenor when thinking of the saxophone, your mileage regarding that very subjective impression of mine may vary.)AudioBabble wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 11:12 am Hey all...
