Guy is wondering why there no new reviews for this and all the reviews are 10 years old. Well easy, basically cause it’s the same old software without anything really new feature wise. So the 10 years old reviews still stand... :hihi:

It seems to be not notarized by Apple…

"Apple cannot verify if the package dos not contain malwares"

Control-Click on the Installer, then select Open. This will allow you to approve the install (another Open button). This used to be an option in MacOS preferences (customer accepts Apple has not reviewed program) but this has been removed in later OS versions. We appreciate Apple is trying to reduce issues by increasing security but the warning message should be more clear to customers. We looked into Apple Sandboxing it for their review but found it slowed our programs' performance by 500% and cut off earlier MacOS users. Apologies while we find a solution that works for old and new customers. Step by step...

I would like to be able to update my Metasynth/XX 6 to this but I understand it doesn't yet support M1 on Mac except using Rosetta? When will full M1 support be forthcoming?

Just another end user, but it will probably be a while. As a one man show he probably has a ton of technical debt. In the meantime, CTX runs great in Rosetta here. If it ran as an AU or VST I could get worried about it. I mean until Rosetta goes away, there's not really any big benefit from native, most of Metasynth is not real time processing, and I've never taxed my CPU with it at all.

The MetaSynth support page has a form for pre-sale questions, and they are quite prompt!

The developer Eric Wenger posted on Facebook yesterday about the upcoming CTX 1.4:
"On an M2 Mini I can get 512 instrument sampler voices in real time without a problem, which is quite remarkable."

That's the question though, I thought that was supposed to be this year?

If it was a plugin it may still run in something like Bitwig that has its own intel wrapper but as it isn't it is very dependent on Apple maintaining Rosetta

Thanks doesn't 'Universal 2 installer for 100% native Apple Processor code.' sound like that mean it will be Silicon native?

Yes. A Universal 2 installer has two versions of the app code. One runs natively on Apple silicon, and the other runs natively on Intel-based. The system chooses the one for your platform.

Last time it was fiver years after Intel was announced as replacing PPC. So IMO at least late 2024 before Rosetta goes away, but I would bet really Rosetta 2 lasts another 4 years. Apple still is selling Intel based Mac Pros.

On top of that, what that really means is that at some point Apple releases an OS that does not support Rosetta, it does not mean that your computer with Rosetta 2 and Metasynth will stop working.
