Thank you for bringing up this concern about our product's license agreement. We understand that there may be some confusion around the use of derived products for commercial purposes, and we appreciate your feedback.

As stated in our license agreement, our unlicensed OB-Xd product is intended for personal use only, and commercial use is not permitted under the terms of the agreement. If someone were to use a free sample pack created using our product in a commercial product, they could be in violation of the license agreement.

If you have any concerns or questions about the use of derived products, we would be happy to discuss them with you further. It is important to us that our license agreement is clear and concise to avoid any ambiguity or confusion in its terms, which could lead to legal issues down the line.

Thank you for your support of our product, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or feedback.

That's not what the website indicates. "Non-commercial" is not the same as "personal use only".

Thank you for bringing up this issue regarding our OB-Xd product and its license agreement. I appreciate the opportunity to clarify any misunderstandings and provide more information on this topic.

I want to confirm that our license agreement states that the unlicensed OB-Xd product is intended for personal use only. This means that individuals are allowed to use the product for their own personal projects, but they are not permitted to use it for commercial purposes without obtaining the appropriate license or permission from discoDSP.

Our goal is to protect the integrity of our product and ensure that its use is in compliance with our license agreement. Therefore, it is important that individuals using our product understand the restrictions on commercial use and seek appropriate permission or licensing from discoDSP if they intend to use it for commercial purposes.

I hope that this explanation has been helpful in addressing your concerns. If you have any further questions or require clarification on any aspect of our license agreement, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Thank you for your reply. You raise a valid point regarding the difficulty of identifying specific synthesizers used in a mix, particularly when it comes to analog emulators. However, it is important to note that the license agreement for our OB-Xd product still applies regardless of whether or not the specific synth used in a mix can be identified.

Our license agreement states that the unlicensed OB-Xd product is intended for personal use only and that commercial use is not permitted under the terms of the agreement.

It is important that individuals using our product understand the restrictions on commercial use and seek appropriate permission or licensing from discoDSP if they intend to use it for commercial purposes. We take the protection of our product and our license agreement seriously and we appreciate your understanding and compliance with these terms.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

especially when there is a freeware version (2dat, distrho) of the same open source synth and you can actually compile it yourself, so i see no point in non commercial use clause because there are other legal ways to get the synth for free and even if the sound is recognisable, its silly or impossible to recognise what binary was used for generating the sound

Thank you for your input regarding our OB-Xd product and its license agreement. While it is true that there are other freeware versions and open-source alternatives available, it is important to note that the license agreement for our OB-Xd product still applies to the specific version of our product.

The non-commercial use clause in our license agreement is in place to protect the integrity of our product and ensure that it is used in compliance with our license agreement. While it may be possible to obtain similar sounds from other sources, the use of our product for commercial purposes without proper licensing or permission would still be a violation of the license agreement.

Regarding the difficulty of identifying the specific binary used for generating a sound, we understand that this may not always be possible. However, we still ask that individuals using our product for personal or non-commercial use respect the terms of our license agreement and refrain from using it for commercial purposes without proper licensing or permission from discoDSP.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with our license agreement. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

At the end i think it is a matter of respecting the wishes of discoDSP (also to understand that the purpose of the free synths is to bring recognition to the brand so people can check their commercial products), just dont make sample packs and sell them or something, also we should be thankful, is not only excellent little synth but is updated very often

It's really quite simple. George has put money into improvements on his code, and has paid a license fee for exclusive commercial privileges. FalkTX has even looked into things and they are now to his satisfaction. George has created a license that lets you use the plugin for non commercial, personal use. If you are an honest and ethical person, it means that you respect the licensing and do not distribute anything made you make with the product. It is essentially an expanded, unhindered ability to test and determine if the product will fit your needs, before buying. If you buy the license, those restrictions are gone. If you don't like that, there is an ethical option as you mentioned from 2dat and disthro. Simple.
