wow, that's something I was totally unaware of and did not expect, especially considering I've been seeing every other person I know, buying a Mac. Can't say that I'm sad about it though haha, I'm a long time PC/Windows user and will probably be one for a long time. I don't know, but for some reason I''ve always been on the other side of Apple. No Mac but Windows, No iPhone but Android. No Airpods but Sony's/Nothing. And it's not something that I planned or that I hate Apple, it's just been a natural path for me.
As I was saying before, if you take a step back, macos market share has been multiplied by 3 in 10 years.

Don't be fooled by contextual events, apple has super performed in 2020 because of m1. So people are buying less in 2022 because they changed 1-2 years before.

The fact to remember is 7% in 2013, 21% in 2023.

Ardour, although I no longer use it because my music setup is hardware-only.

Who said it's failing? It used to be the undisputed no. 1 choice of professionals and part-timers alike. Nobody would describe it as such today. What failed was Apple's ploy to force more people to buy Macs. FCP definitely helped sell a lot of Macs into post-production houses but killing off the Windows version of Logic didn't really have the same effect.
It’s ubiquitous, what more do you want?
It's ubiquitous amongst the 7.2% of people with a Mac, which is to say that it's not ubiquitous at all. I'd be very surprised if there are as many users today as there were when it was cross-platform.
My friend you are not showing the whole reality, or just understanding facts the wrong way.

You are right to say that Apple has less performed in 2022 certainly because it performed so well the years before in particular since the M1.

But the data that really maters is that its market share has been multiplied by 3 (3!) Since 10 years.

MacOS X was 7% of computers in 2013, it is 21% now as we speak....

I invite you to do a bit of data mining here, it is quite funny....

Wow that’s showing a 33% share of browser views (edit: desktop browser views) in the USA were MacOS. And 8% ChromeOS. About 25% Mac in richer European countries. I had no idea.

not sure how exactly this is measured, but these results might be skewed, as iOS Safari identifies itself as an Intel Mac to the internet.

here's what the Internet sees when i'm going online with my iPad with factory Safari browser settings:

Out of context, and with the spelling error - this makes for quite a chilling sentence! lol

It would be interesting to know how many KVR members are in the "audio world" as full time professionals.
Interesting but absolutely meaningless. There isn’t a DAW out there that has more pro users than hobbyists or people attempting to make money off music who never will. So no reason to judge any DAW or discussion by whether Pros chime in or not.
Not meaningless - assuming I understood your post correctly. You seem to be saying that in the "Pro audio world", most people use Macs. I have no reason to doubt that. So that would mean that any KVR members that are Pro would be Mac users. That leaves all the KVR users who are non pros and hobbyists etc. What do they use? Mac or PCs? Only a KVR poll would show us that information.

I dont think that any serious person can say that there is a more "pro" computer for music between PC and Mac (or even linux). They all do the job awesomely....

My computer is the proest though. No doubt.

Sure, any computer running Bitwig is a pro-computer owned by a well groomed and discerning individual.

it seems it depends on which statistics you want to believe...
my first google search result showed this for instance:
- Apple Mac shipments fell 40.5% in the first quarter of 2023, compared with the same time the prior year, market intelligence provider IDC said.

- Apple's worldwide PC market share dropped between the first quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, from 8.6% to 7.2%, according to IDC data.
