Here is a track I put together in EXT64 in November 2022, but only uploaded yesterday. It features the factory samples that came with the Mangle, and a little granular jiggery-pokery.

EDIT: 20240913 - I remastered this yesterday. It's a touch louder.

Love everything about this, the tempo, drums, the overall tone, the sound stage, a lot of really nice unique moments…

Great work!
When the data is corrupt in the Desert of the Real, Beyond the Last Thought, where intuition reigns, is the solace that will embolden and strengthen the soul, giving hope once more to this age of failing technique. eassae.com

I always like a bit of jiggery-pokery. It's my favourite beat.
This is very cool Tim. The lead synth is awesome! What a great sound.
Like essay says every bit of this is great.
I almost expected to hear some sheep after the brief interlude. (PF)
Well done!

Really cool soundstage. Very moody. What style is this? Some sort of ambient jazz? If something like that exists..?!
Great track! :tu:
it is better to have a track with some mistakes than a track without any soul

I have a few more things on the way in the next few months featuring various granular processors, but I really like the processed guitar sounds on here. The lead synth is a Rhodes emulation (Lounge Lizard 4) featuring some distortion, tremolo and heavy reverb. I have just completed a track that features a sheep(ish) synth sound, although it's nothing like the Floyd

Thanks very much for listening and taking the time to comment, John. Glad you enjoyed it :D

What style is this? I just labelled it as downtempo, although I suppose there are some ambient elements here, but the rhythmic components take this far away from the ambient realm. It's not jazz either, as I don't possess the chops to get away with that :)

Dark Jazz Ambient is definitely a thing. You should check out "Black Background V" from the album "Black Background" by Bad Angels on Bandcamp.

Now that I'm back from vacation, I can offer some feedback on this.

Overall, I like this moody and immersive atmospheric downtempo track. The sounds have weight and depth. The hesitant groove adds personality avoiding the rigidity typically associated with electronic music.

This won't come as a surprise to you but unfortunately that shrill vocal-like ululation sound sets my teeth on edge after a while. I think it would work well if used 2 or 3 times in a track to signal to the listener to "wake up and pay attention to this" but IMO the frequent repetition becomes distracting without adding new information.

Ignoring the above complaint, I think this is a cool track and interesting direction for you. Good job. :tu:

I hope you had a nice holiday. I'm taking mine in the winter this year, but in a very warm place.

I've made 6 new tracks since this one, and they all seem to be moody, featuring either granular FX or Absynth (or both), and occasionally, the use of drum samples.

I'll take another look at this at the weekend, and see whether I can do anything with that sample.

I like this mood, dark while somehow optimistic.
