I don't see DP license to be sold in the 2nd hand market. Is it like Logic license? You can't sell it? I think there is just one version of DP 11. It is $395 competitive upgrade (cross from almost any DAW).
Also, there is no demo, right?

I have never played with DP before, but now that I have M1 mini, I'm curious how I feel about the workflow and the program in general on Mac.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Personally I love it, it's quirky like Logic and Cubase because it's as old as those DAWs. It's a great Swiss army knife DAW without the configuration issues and Windows 95 feel of Reaper. There's a 30 day demo, but I would recommend watching a few videos on it first.

It does go one sale used here occasionally, almost always for $200.

Oh, and ignore Chunks for a while, get to know the linear sequencer and reasons to use the Tracks overview window or Sequence editor window, and it's show/hide tracks feature before diving in to Chunks. Chunks are basically complete separate projects that can exist in the same project. So the concept doesn't really exist in the same way in other DAWs, and will mess your head up if you just dive into it. :)

Beyond that it's an all in one DAW, classical music and film scoring features, destructive audio editing, a Clips window like Bitwig and Live, retrospective record, VCA faders, MPE support etc.

Thanks for the info :)
I think I will watch some videos about it before demoing it as you said.

Why do I? I hardly have to deal with any OS at all. I work in applications and it is those that have to work with the OS. It barely affects me and in those areas where it does, the experience is generally better than in macOS. e.g. A File Open/Save dialogue in Windows is a full Explorer window so I can rename files, move them around, etc., should I notice that something has been put in the wrong folder. Those dialogues in macOS are cut-down versions of Finder that are far less useful.

What matters is that Windows supports all the applications I need, no other OS does. So that's what I use. Only a complete f**king idiot would pick and OS and then find software to run on it.

If you're used to the shite Apple squirts out of its corporate arsehole, I'm sure it does.

It reminds me of another discussion that goes on now and then at Engadget, whenever there is an article or review of a smartphone with a folding screen. All the sad Applytes have to chime in and try and convince the rest of us the nobody needs a phone with a folding screen and that they are useless pieces of garbage, without having so much as looked at one in a shop. And everyone knows that the minute Apple make a folding iPhone, they'll be all over it like a rash and singing it's praises as though Apple had invented the f**king tech. It's beyond pathetic. It was the same with other things, like NFC and wireless charging, which Apple was very slow to adopt - when iPhones didn't have that stuff, it was all "nobody needs it", "it's useless", etc. but as soon as it was in the new iPhone it was the greatest thing since canned piss and if your phone didn't have it you were a loser.
syntonica wrote: Mon Jul 10, 2023 6:32 pmI'm curious to see if there is a palpable speed difference between CLAP and VST2. I don't know if anybody has done any formal testing. Maybe Urs did with Diva?
Surely it would depend on a lot of different factors and, therefore, be pretty hard to measure?
syntonica wrote: Mon Jul 10, 2023 10:21 pmI looked at that specific computer. It includes a 10-core i7. Only, it doesn't say that it's 2 fast cores and 8 efficiency cores (12 threads). It's a chip made for mobile and as such, is designed to produce far less heat.
It's still more than enough to smoke an M2. Even teh previous gen laptop CPU could outperform an M2 -
https://nanoreview.net/en/cpu-compare/i ... s-apple-m2
The Iris Xe graphics is less than half as powerful as the new Apple M2. Everything else looked nice, though.
Not really. The performance difference in Cinebench isn't nearly enough to make up for the deficit in the CPU performance in the same test. It makes up a bit of ground but not much. OpenGL test results are also very close, not enough to even worry about. Then, of course, Iris Xe isn't your only option with a Wintel machine so its performance isn't all that relevant. That said, it's been more than enough for my professional needs in my last couple of laptops.

Except it isn't... at work I have to deal with both OSes a alot and it's always OSX that causes problems and makes things unneccessarily difficult - a phrase like yours come exclusively from inexperienced Apple-devotees. ;-)

This sums it up about Mac users very well... :tu:

As I the first time saw how many people were waiting days before an apple shop for the sales launch of a new iphone, sleeping there and the first idiots got applause for being the first ones having bought, I couldn´t believe my eyes ... but is a good explanation why the planet is such a sh*t place to be...

So little humans and so many stupid robots...

Beside your post being the 666th :hihi: (and having an iMac and PC) I have to agree :tu:

My case with DP is the only reason to be talking about this at all in this thread, DP runs better right now (unless the configuration gods are on your side), on Mac, and Logic is Mac only, and If you wanted to use Sonar or Samplitude PC would be your default. The rest of this is dick wagging.

This planet is a great place to be... it's your constant judgement of others that makes it sh*t for you.

I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing, or maybe just a general disconnect & inability to pick up on sarcasm, but you clearly missed the boat.

Oh you sweet silly child.. it was a joke. Also, perhaps you have signatures turned off, because if you'd bother to read mine, you'd see...

I've been pretty much producing exclusively on Windows since 1995. Can't stand working on MacOS.
