i hope they fix it too, but i don't think i'm oversimplifying anything. if i had to wait 2 seconds for a plugin to open, i might be annoyed, but not to the point of abandoning that plugin... if i thought it had value to my work.Sinisterbr wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 7:00 pmYou're oversimplifying the subject.fisherKing wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 6:39 pmMX opens fine here (but it had a lag on my previous intel imac). either way... so what? once it's open, you can make sounds, music. at any rate, that's my priority with a synth plugin: to make sounds, music....Lbdunequest wrote: Fri Jul 14, 2023 9:03 amSame here. If you're a composer and need to constantly open your synths to tweak them in order to get where you want your music to be, you need a fast and smooth workflow, to keep the vibe going.
I love Massive X, but since the last update the lag when opening it became bigger, and I started to favor other synths over it, more and more.
I hope they fix it.
Massive X 1.6.1 update (September 2025)!

You're not getting my point. Trying waiting 2 seconds (it's actually more) several times, every time you need to tweak it, in a session.fisherKing wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 7:16 pmi hope they fix it too, but i don't think i'm oversimplifying anything. if i had to wait 2 seconds for a plugin to open, i might be annoyed, but not to the point of abandoning that plugin... if i thought it had value to my work.Sinisterbr wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 7:00 pmYou're oversimplifying the subject.fisherKing wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 6:39 pmMX opens fine here (but it had a lag on my previous intel imac). either way... so what? once it's open, you can make sounds, music. at any rate, that's my priority with a synth plugin: to make sounds, music....Lbdunequest wrote: Fri Jul 14, 2023 9:03 amSame here. It may not bother you, but it's one heck of a cumulative nuisanse for me (and many others).
If you're ok with the lag, good for you, honestly.

It leads me to use less instances in one project. As I wrote, sonically is Massive X very good so I can live with some lagging, but I cannot imagine to have many of them in one project. I often switch between instruments to tweak it here and there.
My music:Soundcloud|Spotify Gear:Linux Mint MATE, Bitwig, Repro, Hive2, Axon 3, Battalion, Yellowjacket, Atomika, Mercury-4, Elka-X, Surge XT, Pigments, Valhalla Super Massive

yes, i do get your point, and i understand the issue (again, i had lag opening MX on my previous mac). but i think you're not getting my point; waiting 2 seconds is a nuisance, but (for me anyway) not a deal-breaker, if the synth is worth it.Sinisterbr wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 7:51 pm

I'll try to revert MX back to v1.4.1 (I'm currently using the latest version). That was the fastest loading version yet for me. It was very acceptable

It is just 2 seconds if you open the MX only ONCE in your project.fisherKing wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 8:44 pmyes, i do get your point, and i understand the issue (again, i had lag opening MX on my previous mac). but i think you're not getting my point; waiting 2 seconds is a nuisance, but (for me anyway) not a deal-breaker, if the synth is worth it.Sinisterbr wrote: Sat Jul 15, 2023 7:51 pm

it's 2 seconds....
But it can be 10 x2seconds if you need to open MX 10 times, or 20x2seconds if you need to open it 20 times to fix something in the sounds, make some adjsutments etc. So the 2 seconds lag is only if you open MX only one time, but that usually is not the case if you really want to adjsut the sound.

Wait. Somebody help me. How many seconds would it be if I needed to open it 36 times?! THEN how many seconds?

Only 6 seconds... cause by the 3rd time, you would toss out MX and use one of the many other great sounding synths that do not have it's limitationsidoru97214 wrote: Sun Jul 16, 2023 12:23 am Wait. +1 to all this. It’s also very noticeable when switching presets in Komplete Kontrol while playing some notes. Every time Massive X has to load you’ll get silence, followed by a sine wave and finally the actual patch a few seconds later. It’s the only synth I own that does that.Lbdunequest wrote: Fri Jul 14, 2023 9:03 amSame here. And so? Times have changed and nowadays most VSTs around load instantly, so there's definitely a problem at Massive X side and I see nothing ungrateful in simply complaining about it.Vortifex wrote: Sun Jul 16, 2023 9:45 am Back in my day VST synths were only 50 pixels wide and took three hours to load a preset. You kidz don't know how lucky you are.
