I'm interested in this line:

ZENOLOGY Sound Packs are compatible with ZENOLOGY software instruments only (ZENOLOGY Pro, ZENOLOGY, and ZENOLOGY Lite).

This is the first official mention I've been able to find about the sound packs working with ZENOLOGY Lite.
That's correct! These sound packs are available for use in ZENOLOGY Lite as long as you purchase them as a Lifetime Key. :)

Hey Joh @ Roland,
Why on earth is Roland blocking ReasonStudious RB-338 app and allowing Arturia and many others?!
Doesn’t make sense…

Post

How could Roland be blocking those if they don't make a host?
Or maybe I am not understanding the question. :?

vulpes777 wrote: Wed Aug 30, 2023 11:16 am Okay I'm kind of curious, maybe Jon can once again shed some light:

What's the difference between the newly released "Zenology Sound Packs" and the "ZEN-Core Sound Packs" like Kinetic Waveforms from last week?

https://www.rolandcloud.com/news/introd ... ound-packs

Are the former only meant to be installed in Zenology (as in: the Zenology plugin)?

If so, isn't this breaking (or at the very least, "diluting") one of the major advantages of the ZEN* platform - that is, the possibility of having the same patches playing natively on both hardware and software synthesizers?

Regards,

Hey vulpes777 great question! ZENOLOGY Sound Packs use ZEN-Core as a foundation but have been built to specifically work with the hardware that runs ZENOLOGY. This build differs from let's say a FANTOM or JUPITER-Xm because the CPU, memory, etc. are completely different and therefore will use ZEN-Core Sound Packs. Similar to how Windows Apps are built to run natively on Windows, not macOS. The package may be different, but the contents are the same.
huh? am i the only one who does not understand what this means? If it is "built to specifically work with the hardware that runs ZENOLOGY", isn't that exactly the FANTOM or JUPITER-Xm? But it seems to next say that FANTOM and JUPITER-Xm use Zen-Core Sound Packs.

So what hardware are you actually talking about here that the new Sound Packs are designed for?

And if I own Zenology Pro, do I or do I not want to use these?

In other words, what are these for? And could you please stop making everything so unnecessarily complicated and obscure?

EDIT: I must have gotten it backwards from reading the explanation, maybe? it must be that the Zen-Core Sound Packs are for the software Zenology AND the hardware-based Zenology. But the new Sound Packs are only for the software Zenology. Is this correct?

Hey JamminFool! I apologize for my confusing response, I misunderstood the information that was given to me. Let me correct my previous comment and clarify what these sounds packs are for.

ZENOLOGY Sound Packs are made utilizing the lush new reverb and reverb features found in ZENOLOGY 2.0. As of now this reverb is only available in ZENOLOGY and therefore is not recommended to be used with other ZEN-Core instruments. Because of this we decided to add a category specifically for ZENOLOGY Sound Packs and differentiating them with the ZEN-Core sound packs, which still work as before. Let us know what you think of the sounds and sorry for any confusion! :phones:

Quick question about the Zenology Pro:

The initial value of the reverb level is set to 0.
Let's say I want to load a xv5080 patch, what reverb level should I set to have the exact default reverb level of the xv5080?

You have to set it by ear to what you prefer i guess since there are many different reverbs in Zenology Pro now.

Post

Agreed, there's no 1:1 match of reverbs between Zenology Pro and the reverbs found in the Legendary/ARIA soft synths.
Plus the default level is zero simply because they launched Zen Pro without any reverb so thousands of presets were made trying to fudge an approximation of reverb trail by using envelope release. So if you do turn reverb on expect a lot of the older presets to sound wrong.

Are you safe?
