Bitwig Selectors with simple up/down button?

I'm new to bitwig (coming from ableton) and am having an issue doing something that seems quite simple...

I want to use buttons on a midi controller to go up/down through layers in an instrument selector or fx selector....

I know I can map a dial to a selector to move through the layers, but that is imprecise and hard to do accurately. I'd much rather be able to push a button to go from layer 1, to layer 2, to layer 3, etc. This way 2 buttons would be used (one for going up, one for down), and would land precisely on the layer. How would one do this?

i was about to say "just midi map the up and down arrows", but realized they are not mappable.

I would know a workaround via a touch osc interface, because it's possible to put scripts into buttons there. Like a script which automatically increases the sent midi cc value by +1. But that's quite complicated.

So i'm curious, too, if and how this is possible in a easy way!

Just in case you would be open for something completely different: If you have a tablet or a phone you can use, you could make your own custom touch-selector for all your instruments. Just an idea. I personally would prefer that over "up/down" scrolling. :)

Yes, it's not obvious how to do this! No way to map those arrows...

Noted on using Touch OSC... I do love Touch OSC, but have found that simple physical up/down buttons are actually better for composing/jamming... especially for switching through different drum sounds. It's very easy to do in ableton... so hopefully there is a solution in bitwig...

I found out the answer!.... click the hand on the bottom right (to view midi mappings)... and change the button mapping to "select next" or "select previous"...

Cool!
However, i don't know why Bitwig lets you select that in the mappings panel.
I only have the options "Set Value" and below i can set the range for which instruments are affected by the midi control.

Here's what i mapped in the selector (and the selector mode) - maybe it differs from what you mapped?

Ohh, after assigning a key of my keyboard, instead of a midi-button, i see those options! Nice

Still - i wouldn't know how to get those options via midi CC, haha :D

Nice... I never discovered that one. Thanks!
