A major f@#k-up on the part of whoever made the decision to not include a reverb from the start.

Really odd. Can't have been a developer decision, maybe the Zen hardware people wanted some kind of edge over the software or there were some re-licensing issues with the reverb algo makers. All guesswork, but it seems to me to show that they aren't making decisions for the good of the products.

And that was just the beginning:

- First they released a flagship line of instruments without a reverb (or an arpeggiator*).
- Then they had to tweak the release in a large number of legacy presets, in order to compensate for the lack of a built-in reverb
- THEN they sneakily added in a very decent reverb...as part of the JD800 expansion, so that the rest of the library can't access it
- Then Zenology 2 came along - our prayers have been answered
- ...Except now the legacy presets still won't sound right unless you also dial back the release time to what it was supposed to be
- ...and until you realize for now this is a software-only addition, therefore (as confirmed by Jon) they will be releasing two separate lines of expansions, since the Zen-core HW is not 100% compatible with Zenology anymore

From a R&D standpoint this was a HUGE waste of time and resources that turned into a mess. Honestly, this should have been done right since the initial releases.

*Coming soon in Zenology 3.

Just my 2 cents,

I hope that we will get Updated Presets to match the correct sound out of the box in Zenology Pro.

The EXZ Banks and the XV Presets are the most important ones.
Hope you can add that to the List Jon ;)

You got it! I'll be sure to bring it up with the team. Thank you for the feedback. :D

I tried latest version of Roland Cloud XV-5080, JV-1080 and various SRX plugins. They still have CPU spikes and audio dropouts at low and medium buffer sizes.

Here I made a short video tying to demonstrate those issues with XV-5080

( yes I had to use annoying over-used type of clickbait YouTube thumbnail in attempt not get some users on YouTube to see the video )

also I really hope Roland Cloud will add GM bank to XV-5080 plugin to match the Hardware XV-5080 , there are certain GM sounds in XV-5080 GM bank that dont exist in "normal" presets banks

Hey Marco! I added a request to get the EXZ and XV presets to be adjusted to more accurately represent the initial presets. To be clear we never modified the patches to emulate reverb. Reverb in ZENOLOGY has been a highly requested feature and we are thrilled to deliver it to y'all! In the case of the JD-800, the reverb was included exclusively in the expansion itself. It wasn't something we chose to not to included in the other synths.

We are making ZENOLOGY specific sound packs to accommodate the new reverb features in ZENOLOGY 2.0. Our plan is to continuously update ZENOLOGY to make it bigger and better and more diverse. When these changes don't line up with the features in other ZEN-Core hardware, we want a way to demonstrate these new features in exciting new ways with everyone! We are not releasing ZENOLOGY specific "expansions" as in instruments specifically for one ZEN-Core instrument and not the other, but instead simple sound packs that will demonstrate how powerful ZENOLOGY is as a sound design tool. Hope that clears that up!

But what does this mean for existing Zen-Core compatible hardware like my RD-88?
Will it be able to follow the updated path and future Zenology enhancements, I.e. will these trickle down to Zen-Core as well?

Just a heads up that an ACB model of the old CR-78 drum machine has been added to the latest TR-6S/8S firmware so it would be odd/would be just like Roland if they didn't also roll out a version to Roland Cloud at some point soon.

Could anyone share a list of latest versions of the Legendary series instruments please?
On my Windows 10 DAW machine Roland Cloud Manager is telling me that updates are available. When I attempt to update it goes through what looks like an install, but then returns to saying an update is available. No files are changed when doing this.

Yeah, I'd expect a CR-78 Legendary instrument soon. Would be cool if they added the tuned 808 basslines to the TR-808 model or made that a standalone bass instrument.
