“Shock Tea” is a tribute to the band Shakti. I had the privilege of seeing them a few weeks ago (with Bela Fleck as the incredible opening act). This piece features NS Stick, an Emerald Amicus 12 String Guitar, LinnStrument (violin), and a Korg Wavedrum (Tabla).

Hello Jeremy. "Shock Tea" actually starts unusually: something Far Eastern and with
violin staccatos. Because there is no consistent plane sound, the song seems lighter
and more rhythmic. Everything is accompanied by the tabla. Guitar and violin take
over - alternating and interweaving - the melody line. The nice thing is: the melody
stays in your ear after listening.

Overall: Unusual and brilliantly groovy instrumental.

The "acoustic" instruments sound very real to my ears! All audio quality is excellent. Very nicely done! Cool song!

Thanks for the listen and comments. I left some comments for your tunes - well done. I played an opening gig with the Alan Scott Band for Living Colour this summer which was a lot of fun.

Thanks! Are you saying you played in the Alan Scott Band, which opened for the band: Living Colour, probably mostly known for their song "Cult of Personality"?

Very cool! I always thought "Cult of Personality" was a great song. I sincerely wish more Black bands did hard rock like that; along with Jimmy Hendrix..........well I guess his band was only ever partially Black, as far as I know.

COP was the their big hit, but they have a much bigger catalog. The whole band is off the hook in terms of talent. My keyboard rig was behind Doug Wimbish's bass pedal rig which was like a spaceship! He makes great use of it. If you have not heard King's X (plus Dug Pinnick solo albums and side projects with Eric Gales and KXM), Fishbone, Eric Gales, Greg Howe, or Tony MacAlpine, check them out. Amazing players.

I have heard of King's X (just watched the "Over My Head" video; sounds very good). I have seen Fishbone at least once live; opening for the B-52's or Oingo Boingo, or someone like that, long ago. Fishbone was quite good when I saw them. As far as Living Colour goes, I could only remember Vernon Reid's name, since he has been in guitar magazines, etc. Your live video sounds good, thanks for sharing.
