I’m seeing UAD Essentials for $299 at uaudio.com

https://www.uaudio.com/uad-plugins/plug ... ition.html

The $49 deal is through a couple 3rd party resellers, and you don’t get thank you coupons for sales outside of uaudio.com

When is the deal ending? I got a UAD email saying just hours left, but I don't see the actual date/time.

I just picked up API Vision Console Channel strip and the $49 free LA2A compressor bundle upgrade. The API is TOP notch. It's highly recommended. It can tighten and brighten and organicly enrich a mix very nicely or individual sounds or buses I suspect. I didn't see that LA2A could be useful for anything for me unless I ever want it for real instruments or vocals or something.

I'm looking at the deal bundle and thinking that the money would be better spent going to DMG Trackcomp... I'm not sure I want to litter my projects with plugins that are ilok cloud. On the other hand, my reasoning about wanting to support small developers might not be so coherent as the odds that the big players are still around in the coming decades is probably higher. I mean, much as I hate Waves, the continuity of product line is reassuring.

Yes, i just read an UA rep saying that they will send out e-mails soon.
Already received the email from UAD. Unfortunately, the thank you code cannot be used with those coupons.
What sale? Which coupons?
The Audio Essentials Bundle Upgrade from Free LA-2A?
The LA-2A Collection, Essentials Edition and Mix Edition discounts are also available at UA website now, in your account. But you cannot use your thank you coupon with those. Otherwise Essentials Edition would have costed just $24!

Although Universal Audio already disappeared once before.

I keep looking over the plugins included in the bundle and it's unlikely I'd need them, but I wonder, would having a bunch of UAD plugins likely make me eligible for other discounts in the future? I get the impression that that's how UAD are approaching their pricing system.

Ok so I got the free LA2A to extract and run. I was missing optional component of Windows 11 - OpenSSL. Specifically the UA Connect needs TAR.EXE to be available with the libarchive*.dll.

Tar? Really? On Windows?

There is zip already, why use tar at all when it is not a default install (as far as I know).

Anyway, LA2A is now levelling signal.

Probably. But whether that'd save you money is a different matter. EG The Mix Bundle was on special offer for $299 just a few weeks ago. Now free LA-2A users can get the same bundle for $100 less, making that deal, err.. less "special".

So when is the right time to buy? As long as UA appear to be pursuing the Waves / Plugin Alliance route (IE price high, sell low) in order to gain market share, you'll never quite be sure. Also, in doing that, the need for bundles reduce. You still might save money. But, with $29 pricing, you're going to have to want a larger number of plugins for that to be true. Best spend what you can afford on things you'll use rather than theoretical future savings which may not materialise.

Their present native bundles are already about 8 plugins behind, with (apparently) 3 or so more coming in November. So it's likely anyone buying their bundles now won't have long to wait before they're offered "upgrades". Whether that'll work out less than just waiting, and buying new directly, remains to be seen.

You can view their full range (of which only about 25% are currently available as native) if you look at their Complete Bundle for the DSP devices. However a number of those plugins are provided by companies like Softube, Plugin Alliance, and Sonnox etc. So they already have their own native versions..
